Post your covers! (2024)

Nice job…you got into the groove…i think the plucking was gentle in the beginning and then you got a fuller/fatter sound as you got into the song. Enjoyed it!

@JohnF …There is so much truth about the fingers producing 80% of the tone. It took a few bars for me to really use the full pad of fingers to pull thru the strings to get the full sound.

That sounded great! Looked like it was fun to play as well! Haven’t heard that song in a looong time.

Background: acquired fellow sunDOG’s Ampero One and started playing around with creating effects (first multi-effect tool I’ve had my dirty hands on ever) and recording. Had some issue with latency (very audible) but I believe it’s sorted by now, quickly recorded these 2 covers after removing bass with Moises, only audio (much better of without even seeing me, trust me on it  ), please be gentle on me

Sade would’ve been more authentic with the Sire Z3 but I had my Jazz at hand sooooo - listen and hopefully enjoy.

Excellent playing, @totyasrac! Glad you like the Ampero One!!

Both songs sound great! In smooth operator those high notes in the middle of the song transitioning back to the low bass line is just a super cool (smooth!) part of that song. Really well done!

This is really good @totyasrac . Smooth Operator is so … smooth

No Doubt have such great basslines, I’m learning a couple of their songs but they’re so flippin’ fast! It’s taking me a while to properly get it. Great rhythm, awesome job :ok_hand:

Indeed - I have learned a Rush song (Cold Fire) but by far not as tough as this one was TBH. Still well worth, I left the glitches in it because… Was just testing the technical issues and haven’t played this song for over a month, gave up after 3rd try

@saroohoo , @JerryP , @JohnF , @sunDOG - thanks for the compliments :blush:

This album is special to me. There was a time in my early teens when I listened to Ritual exclusively for a few months. Side 2 (from back in the cassette days) is still one of the most special second halfs to any album that I’ve ever heard. My Dad took me to the first Lollapalooza when I was 13 so that I could see Janes. I also picked up on a new band called Nine Inch Nails at the show.

It’s been my birthday now for about a half hour. I wanted to find a cover to do that’s special to me, and this being one of my favorite tracks off of one of my favorite albums seemed to fit the bill.

Janes Addiction - Classic Girl

Thank you and thank you very much!

Thank you! Awesome, a fellow Sagittarius. Something we’ve got in common with Jim Morrison.

Thank you! My Dad took me to the Reston VA show. I remember them out in WV, but I guess that came after that first one. In fact, I’m pretty sure my 28 year old was conceived at the '95 Lollapalooza (Sonic Youth). I know I got to see Ministry the second year, and that show was awesome.

Yeah I was at the one with Ministry, at Shoreline in Mountain View. And yeah, one hell of a lineup. Ministry, Soundgarden, Cube, Lush, JAMC, RHCP and that was just the main stage. I think I skipped out on Pearl Jam.

Side stage had RATM, STP, Failure, Cypress Hill, a bunch of PNW bands I liked, etc. depending on dates.

Blondie - Call Me

This song is fantastic to play, I love the rhythm of the bass line! The complication is remembering the chord progression in the c section. Remember the F, the F…!

Hohner Professional B Bass into an Ampero, then on into GarageBand.

Oh, and loving this late 80s / early 90s (?) bass! You can get some fantastic tones out of it, plus it is light and beautifully balanced.
