Great cover and song there, mate!
Cool song and a very relaxed cover! I Like!
Don’t know why, but I had to think of Les Négresses Vertes (think: “Zobi la Mouche”) immidiately. Different style, similar energy, similar way of singing…
Great job Justin! Chico and The Man was a very funny show. Good choice.
Awesome playing Laurent! Hope to see more covers this year.
I may do something like that. I only wish that I had the collection I once did! I used to have a Wal, a Rickenbacker, and a Spector all at the same time but ended up selling those for one reason or another.
Thanks bro
Oh maaan, this song randomly appeared on iTunes last night, while I was in the car, on the way to the shops to buy yogurt! I like yogurt!
Freak me, I love the vibe and I had to play it. Luckily, it’s pretty easy - A G D F/C on repeat, but with one repeat being A C D F/C, so it didn’t take long to learn. Annoyingly, the original was likely played on a 5-string, I only have 4s. I think it sounds fine (what do you think?), but it has got me wondering if I should buy another bass
Anyway, tonight was an outing for the Steinberger. I know some people aren’t fans of these basses, but I love ‘em!!
Host - My Only Escape
interesting “industrial cold wave” vibe
Love it, strong Xymox vibes there
Never heard this before, but I like it
Is that even a question?
headless in general I’m not a fan of lol, just feels like there’s something missing (I mean, there is, but ya know… )
Steinbergers are fantastic classics, ignore the haters
true
Can’t really hate them anymore when I hear how good @sunDOG and @JustinAndSheba make these Steinbergers sound!
Makes me strongly think about duran duran for some reason.
Very interesting sound and tone. Nice !
Your playing is totally integrated into the song. Well done !
There are so many sub-genres! I’ve never heard of Industrial Cold Wave!!
Never heard of them, either! Will check them out!
Apart from the obvious, what do you feel is missing? This bass is passive, rather than active, but so are many others, it delivers decent tone and if you’re a fan of the look (I am, but then musically, I’m an 80s kinda guy) they have the look! The only issue with it is that it hangs a little to the left, meaning it’s a stretch for the lower notes. You get used to it though…. I agree with. Howard, they are classics.
Why, thank you!
I hadn’t though of that. I’m an unashamed Durannie! I just wish I could play like JT on the Rio album. Wow, that man is good!
I’ve just had another listen to it. Yes, I get what you mean, there is a bit of the first Duran album vibe in there; the layered synths, the guitar and the bass being quite forward in the mix. I’m thinking To The Shore, Anyone Out There, Sound of Thunder, Night Boat…
That’s a great cover and the bass does sound awesome. I just cannot stand the look of them…but hey, glad we got to see more dad-dancing moved!
I’m a dad, I dance badly, what can I say
