Post your covers! (2024)

Thank you so much, @John_E! It’s very nice to hear you liked it. I removed the bass with Moises, played the bass on my Warwick Corvette $$ 4-string through a Pod Go and used an Ampeg SVT 8x10 emulation. Mastered with EZ Mix in Reaper.

Thanks John! I am still a little nervous to put myself out there! It’s one thing to practice a song in the comfort of my basement, I’m not sure how I would fare playing with others but it’s definitely something I hope to do when I feel like I’m ready!

Great job Johnnyb! Not familiar with the song or the band, but as always, great playing.

This song has taken me on a very frustrating journey. The riff is one of the very first I ever tried to learn (long before starting B2B). It was so ingrained in my head & hands and I realized after many shitty playthroughs that I had been playing it wrong :sob:

So, a couple of weeks of retraining myself to play it properly and it still sounded crappy. I must have messed with my tone settings a hundred different times before I found a passable tone. I haven’t listened to this on proper speakers yet but it sounds nice through my headphones.

THEN I realized, wait a minute, there’s actually a handful of variations in this riff and I was STILL playing it improperly. On top of that, this entire song is ever so slightly behind the beat and it was SO challenging for me to keep proper time :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I think this sounds pretty good, there’s a few minor flubs in this one (and perhaps some timing issues) but I think it’s good enough to share!

I hope you guys enjoy!

Those two videos were so much fun to watch! Really, really enjoyed them. You should make this an annual event.

Yes the strings are muted…I attached foam to the bridge cover so the foam presses down lightly on the strings. This stock photo shows the bass WO PU & Bridge covers… Vintage "54 single coil PUs and fiber saddles contribute to the unique tone of this bass.

I’m the youngest of seven. It would have been cool to have a band with them all. But I didn’t even go to high school with any of them. The older kids could have though (if they got along) I do t know if they did or not really, but we are all really close now.

Awesome jam with your family. Really cool to see good family moments. Gives meaning to the music and all that. Great playing/singing all 'round too.

Artist : Arctic Monkeys
Song Name: Mardy Bum

Thank you for the kind comments, its really inspiring and helpful being part of this group on my Bass learning journey.

Here is one I have been working on for the last few days. Another Arctic Monkeys track, this is called Mardy Bum. Recorded with Reaper and Amplitube with my Fender Mustang which I have just bought and absolutely love.

hey @ChrisoBass , may I ask you to please write clearly the artist and the name of the song in your post, like : “Artist - Name of the song” when you release a cover ? It helps me a lot because I’m keeping a listing of all covers ; it’s used to bring several yearly statistics about this collective thread. thanks !
