Billie Eilish - Bad Guy
This song is an exercise in minimalism and restraint, centred around Billie Eilish’s vocal and the bass line. My cover was an exercise accuracy and the use of an octaver effect on the Ampero. Getting the right tone for this song took quite a lot of effort, I actually recorded it four different times, on four different basses. The short scale Ibanez seemed to work the best with the octaver, the plucked notes having fewer overtones. I also ended up playing in passive mode. This ensured accurate tracking.
