To shamelessly steal @terb’s post from March 2023, which was reposted for 2024, welcome to the 2025 “Post your covers!” thread.
For the newcomers, here is the concept: share our bass covers here, and inspire & encourage others to get into recording, finding tabs by ears (or on the internet), and playing the songs that really make your heart vibrate. All of that means great fun and great progression. It could also be a way to give and receive advice and constructive criticism about our playing techniques, rythmic accuracy, groove, bass tone … in a nutshell, be excellent!
If you don’t know how to create a backing track from an album track, and replace the existing bass line by yours, we discuss the subject here : “remove” the bass line from a track 34
Of course, there’s no minimum skill and difficulty level required and remember that we’re all here to progress and have fun. So, don’t be shy, make and share your bass covers! These could be pure audio tracks, or video if you prefer (easy to upload and share on Soundcloud and/or Youtube, hoping the ContentID filter won’t be too rude with us).
A cover can be either a video (more fun) or an audio track (easier at first).
Please, when you share a cover, write very clearly in your post the artist/band and the name of the song!
Hohner Professional B Bass, through the Hotone Ampero into GarageBand
Happy New Year!!
Edit: Just for fun, at the end of this video I added the song intro, bringing the bass in and out. Without the bass, the song has no depth. People often mock Adam Clayton for his simple lines, but without Clayton’s bass, there simply isn’t U2! Playing some of his lines has given me respect for what he does.
Busy old time last year, I joined a band and spent most of my free time learning a lot of new songs. So not much time for covers.
However, I got a new Amp Head (Ashdown Rootmaster 500) today and decided to see how it recorded from the DI output. I think it sounds pretty nice. No effects, just a bit of compression, the amp and a cab sim (2x12 Ampeg I think?).

Happy New Year to everyone and especially I’d like to say a big thanks again to @terb for starting this whole thread. Posting covers on here after finishing B2B, led me to have a resume of covers on YouTube and that got me the gig in the band. I was able to say to the band; watch this, this is where I’m at and they thought ‘yeah he’ll do!’
Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Mary Jane’s Last Dance
Yes! Let’s go! The European Band of BassBuzzers kickin’ off 2025 early for us across the pond! That sounded awesome! Love the camera zooms and the bass cut at the end.
Now, I might have to post one on this new thread before the night is over…
Let’s Go! LOL
Thanks for hanging through that whole jam and for the encouragement…I appreciate it. Yeah, when i got to the final chorus, I was like phew, I made it out the other side!
LOL
That bassist from Crazy Horse (Billy Talbot) was touring with Neil in 2024 and the dude is 80 years old…jamming sets with some 14 minute long songs. Singing back-up vocals. I hope we all can do that when we’re 80.
On this track, the tone was a combination of the Hohner on the neck pickup, with the treble at 50% and the bass at 100%, into an overdriven preset on the Ampero. It just worked. The Ampero is a hell of a unit, for not a lot of ££. I really like it, especially as you can use it for silent practice and as an interface.
Daughter on the camera
Regarding the bass cut, listening to this song with the bass fully removed was intriguing - suddenly, I got Adam Clayton!
