My goal at first was just to get some video and audio of the songs I was working on. But, I really think part of the journey, for some of us, is to make the best sounding cover that we are capable of at that moment. It’s very very rare that I will post my first attempt, mostly because stuff just happens. We are not live, it’s okay to put your best foot forward.
One shot recording, raw audio from the camera, and I’m singing. I hope you are happy Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
I am actually trying to practise playing and singing at the same time, not because I want people to hear me sing, but it is for my own amusement, and a good skill to have.
There are a couple of other songs I’m doing the same with too. Nothing too complicated on the bass, baby steps!
I recognise the song, but didn’t know who it was. Someone did a cover, can’t remember who. This is a great version though, and played perfectly as always
Great plan @JustinAndSheba - worked for me!! Matter of fact, did a cover using the one I built when I first started taking the B2B course here years ago… Don’t live in the mountains though - pretty flat down here in the peach and pecan farmlands of South Georgia… But it don’t matter where ya live, just matters whatcha live by…
Cool thing about a good 'ol fashion Gut Bass is that:
It don’t take no fancy power tools to build
The bucket, pole, and string can all be used for other things- ie: multi-purpose (Hell, I use to take baths in these things growin’ up when they weren’t being used for guts)
It’s easy to learn to play cause it only has one string
Can be amplified (I stick a microphone in the bucket) so I guess you could say it’s both "Active & Passive)
Can be played with as many (or as few) fingers ya wanna use
Has absolutely no neck dive
Lightweight and portable
Don’t gotta worry about learning sheet music of any kind or type - there ain’t none
And finally, I can guarantee 'ol @Al1885 don’t have one of these in his bass shed!!
Thanks John… At least when playin’ this instrument I don’t have to worry about hittin’ right notes,… being in tune,… or adjustin’ any tone knobs… just gotta focus on keep’n the straps of my bibs from slid’n off my shoulders allowing my britches to drop thus exposin’ the 'ol… “G” string…!!..
Thanks Al!! No need to apologize… Got several pairs in both blue and brown… Wear 'em here most days when I’m out on tractors, and while using equipment while doing maintenance here on the homestead…
Hahaha… Thanks!! Love wearin’ my bibs… Even got a nice (fairly) new pair that I can wear out to the numerous fancy dining establishments we have here in Fort Valley GA…
A freakin cool groove, composed by Henry Mancini!! . While the bass line is easy, the challenge is keeping absolutely locked in for 5 minutes and then actually remembering to go to the F at the end!!
Ibanez EHB1000S into the Hotone Ampero, then on into GarageBand.
The Juice Newton version is actually a cover of a Dave Edmunds song. In 1982 an Austrian artist called Nickerbocker released the German rendering “Puppe (du bist a moderne Hex’)”
