Post your covers! (2025)

Sadly, that’s not going to work. “Email me when I am quoted, replied to, my @username is mentioned…” The thread is being replied to, hence the emails. I can silence everything, or silence the thread, which I don’t want to, so looks like I’m going to become familiar with the email delete button. How many posts were in the 2024 thread?

Anyway, it’s no biggie…and the covers folks are posting are fantastic!!

@sunDOG Thanks Duncan!

@TheMaartian Thank you! When I was looking for an image for the title, all those names came up.

@Ed Thanks Ed! I used the BDI-21 to shape the tone just a bit. I really don’t know what I’m doing, it just sounds good to me.

Thank you everyone!

“Ha!! That video effect”

Instead of a copyright block from YouTube for using Neil Young’s music, I think I might get one from sunDOG for experimenting with your filter! I think the filter I am most comfortable with is that silent era black/white one so I won’t be infringing on your patented look!

Like others have said, this is such an iconic 80’s song, it takes me back to my college years. I love it @JerryP

One that gives you a Dingwall and a dancing daughter

I’ve yet to start this list. I did look at the Pink Floyd tab so it’s a start I guess
I quite like a few Coldplay songs. This is one I was learning on the piano, before I bought a bass of course!
Your playing sounds very mellow, it would be easy to overpower the rest of the song, but you got it just right

Change the status for that particular post then?

Come now, the filter gives me more than just a Dingwall, there’s an Ibanez option, a Hohner option, a …

The dancing daughter was a massive upgrade. Comes at quite a cost, but I think it’s absolutely worth it!

Thank you Andrea! Like so many of the songs I cover, it started to play in the car and I thought “Why don’t I try to cover this?”

If that doesn’t work, could you set up an email rule to delete emails with just the specific subject line for this thread (not all B2B posts)?

Right change the middle one to Never… and done. Who wants email spam anyway?

Hey Bassbuzzers, wishing you all a happy new year.

I’ve been rather absent in the last 3-4 months, due to some severe depression, but I’m hoping that I’m on the mend. Continuing with my bass has definitely been a big help in coping with a lot of shit. Now, I don’t want to turn this into a big “me-me-me” thing, so here’s two covers from me. My bass teacher is happy with my progress and has steered me into some more Motown, as he feels syncopation is a thing I need to improve on, so here’s two Marvin Gaye cover, with the maestro himself: James Jamerson.

Ain’t no mountain high enough - Marvin Gaye

I heard it through the grapevine - Marvin Gaye
