Great job here! Difficult fills, totally cooks in the middle and finishes in that relentless blaze of glory. Was fun to watch your cover.
I revisited these songs once started building my chops and you’re right. Absolute beast! lol

Hey @topazb , your video no longer seems to be available?
I concur. Not available.

That’s quite interesting. I did a cover of this song a while back and posted on YT, and although copyrighted, usage was permitted.
Did you upload it as a short or a full video? The link is taking me to shorts which might be why it got removed for copyright?
You can try uploading it to vimeo instead.
Green Onion by Booker T and the MGs
I had fun with this one. Is it perfect? Definitely not. But I did enjoy just jamming with the track. I’m hoping that in the future I can look back on these videos and see how far I have come and really be able to play them well.
Hi,
Yesterday it was 3 years ago that I bought my first bass guitar, a Yamaha TRBX 304, recommended by BassBuzz and I’ve loved it ever since. You could say that this is an anniversary video.
The Story So Far - Quicksand
The Temptations - My Girl
Yes, this one is a challenge song and I have a dedicated post in the appropriate area. But this is my first cover using the Ernie Ball Mute Noodle (and I wanted to get it indexed) so I thought I would post here as well.
In addition my son’s video skills are leveling up. We’re experimenting with multi-camera and background motion. More to come this weekend! ![]()
To celebrate the seven year Bassiversary and the onset of summer, I submit this cover. I hope you all enjoy it and thanks for watching.
The Lovin’ Spoonful - Summer in the City
Congratulations! And great cover!! I always enjoy watching your vids. ![]()
Thank you Professor.
Stand By Me Ben E King
Today hasn’t been a good day for a few reasons, but to help with my mental health, I have found peace in playing music. So today I tried to play this classic bass line. Mistakes happened and are shown. It’s important that when these happen, we don’t give up.
That second half of the song starting around 3:20 sounds really good…the tone and just the song in general. Well done!
Well played! Cool tone and really clean, steady picking.
Never heard this song before…well done! Yeah, that instrumental section and the outro look like fun to play.
Well done, dude…some cool parts in that chorus that you played well!
Yeah, dude…that instrumental section is super challenging…nice job tackling that one! That looked like some serious endurance with the pic at the end.
Looks like a fun song to jam to! I am not sure what finger you are using for the fourth fret (G# and then the C#). I think you may be a lot more comfortable if you just use index on the F and then pinky on the G# (even if you have to micro shift a bit) and you’d have a lot more efficiency. It seems like you are shifting a ton to get to the fourth fret. Just something to think about.
Happy Bassiversary! Well played!
Yeah, just a feel good Motown song…well played, Professor! Nice warm tone. That melody is basically the pentatonic scale from root to octave.
Happy Bassiversary, Jerry! Well played as always! Summertime and the livin’s easy…
Peace through music…getting into flow state with the bass is such a great escape. Enjoyed listening to this one!
I have a problem where my fingers don’t want to separate when playing, but I did try to use the correct fingers, like the pinkie on the 4th fret. It’s something I’m actively working on, although some days are more successful than others.
One last post for the weekend…
Patsy Cline - Walkin’ After Midnight (Bass cover)
This one was a request from the wife - which is why I put her pic with me in the thumbnail image. ![]()
This was the very first song I learned after finishing B2B last year. I played and my wife sang along. I guess it was time to record a cover of it. ![]()
This is also the first video where my son added an animated loop. I think the light animation is pretty cool. lol
Busy weekend…need to catch up!
Joe Vance - Riptide bass improvisation
Another I have learnt for the band…
Nice one Professor!
