Post Your Covers! (2026)

Because, well, it’s 2026!!

To shamelessly steal @terb’s post from March 2023, which was reposted for 2024 and 2025, welcome to the 2026 “Post your covers!” thread.

For the newcomers, here is the concept: share our bass covers here, and inspire & encourage others to get into recording, finding tabs by ears (or on the internet), and playing the songs that really make your heart vibrate. All of that means great fun and great progression. It could also be a way to give and receive advice and constructive criticism about our playing techniques, rythmic accuracy, groove, bass tone … in a nutshell, be excellent!

If you don’t know how to create a backing track from an album track, and replace the existing bass line by yours, we discuss the subject here : “remove” the bass line from a track 34

Also @PamPurrs and @John_Ecreated a great and useful tutorial about how you can record yourself : Pam and John’s “How To Record Yourself” Parts 1 & 2 (Audio & Video)33

Of course, there’s no minimum skill and difficulty level required and remember that we’re all here to progress and have fun. So, don’t be shy, make and share your bass covers! These could be pure audio tracks, or video if you prefer (easy to upload and share on Soundcloud and/or Youtube, hoping the ContentID filter won’t be too rude with us).

A cover can be either a video (more fun) or an audio track (easier at first).

It would be great, when you share a cover, write very clearly in your post the artist/band and the name of the song, so we all know who you’re covering!

Have fun!!

Please allow me to kick off the 2026 cover thread.

In these days of increasing global tension, perhaps we should heed the words of John Lennon…

It also helps that Paul McCartney’s bass line is pretty cool!

The Beatles - Come Together

I’m playing my Hohner Professional B Bass, via th Ampero, into GarageBand. To get the tone I wanted, I put foam under the strings at the bridge and rolled off the treble. The challenge with this is that it also made it very difficult to hear my slide between the D and the C on the G-string, so I’m not entirely happy with the recording. (The mute, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! :face_with_peeking_eye:)
