You don’t have an exceptionally bad computer or high audio latency or something obvious I am guessing?
I did have issues with MIDI eating away performance yesterday (MIDI performance meter went red), but not today.
And that’s strange, as I got quite a fast laptop with enough RAM (32 GByte).
Anyway, latency etc should not make a difference for the rendered file, as this is not real time, right?
So, setting attack to 0% (was 100%!!!) did the trick.
I updated the link above for the final result.
A friend of mine DJs in Berlin fetish clubs, and she wants to play that track next weekend, cause of “Sisssieeeeeeeeeeeees!” (I guess the “wh@res wh@res wh@res” also helped?!)
Might need to make a longer version now, and I’m out of ideas…

It might be a little political, though I just state three facts: name, date/place of birth and date/place of death. No harm done.
Everybody can make up their minds about the topic itself privately, no need to break forum rules and discuss.
The faiths of those to people really kept me awake, and I just needed to get rid of the thoughts about it. Also I had a melody in mind, so for me it all came together.
Production wise I’m slowly improving, and the compromises were actually great for the end result: self-censoring lyrics (so I just reused and reshuffled samples from the basic facts), but also having no access to native speakers.
I just took one of those AI voice production tools made for speech (for presentations) and put it through Resing to make it more lively (including breathing, which I found haunting).
I liked the effect that the voices are quite casual (= alive) and still artificial (= kind of talking from the grave). In this case I did not sync the vocals exactly to the beat, to give it an immersive feeling.
In the process of making this track I sometimes forgot that these are not the actual people, and that was so overwhelming that I needed to pause often.
As always, listen to it via good headphones or good stereo speakers. The stereo effects and use of bass have “dramatic” intent.
@howard - this is a new version. Corrected some bugs I found when looking at the performance monitor … and added arpeggiator as this is a lazy way to give the “alive” sections some substance…
By the way: my girlfriend just told me that it’s Renée Good’s birthday, so that made it to me even more meaningful

The next project will be a rather silly song about a bee called Maja … and probably “my” Park Punk Chick will do a hiphoppy song with me, based on the built-in wakeup sound clip on my phone.
She just sent me the lyrics, and I was shocked about all that profanity (had to Google some words!).
How can an innocent wake up jingle lead to such sexually loaded and bad tempered lyrics?

The bass really stands out well and the song and video is cool. I could hear this on the soundtrack of some rockin’ anime or Netflix action. Please keep us posted on the progress of your band.

Inspired by @joergkutter ’s hint about UJAM BeautyFlute plugin and “conversations” with my little niece and nephew, I wrote a little song that consists only of young children’s profanities.
To get the lyrics, I asked everybody I know with kids between 4 and 10 to tell me expressions the kids use for people they don’t like.
It’s adorable!
I already tested the song on my niece and nephew, and their mother was ok with it – until they started destroying the living room at the rather punky end of the song, while jumping on the couch and the table and screaming they lyrics at the top of their lungs. Doesn’t get more punk than that…
Now – a few days later, the kids impress everybody with their great memory of the lyrics of this song.
Mission accomplished
The song is German, and my girlfriend and her friend were nice enough to get very very VERY (!!!) drunk and “sing” to it…

I do like the bass line though, in the, uhm, chorus/bridge (?).
The lyrics are strongly biased to Northern Germany, however. You could get much more juicy/robust stuff from the Southerners

You cannot imagine how much effort it took to get the list of kid’s profanities!
I asked friends, parents at the playing ground in my park and even a local facebook group. I was lucky that some parents did not beat me up and/or call the police…
Also, if I would include the southern profanities, the song would be very very very long
Hahaha, yeah … I don’t know anything about song structure, I know. I just write the song where it leads me.
I like that bass line too, cause it has this “Zappelphilipp” feeling, and it ends in punk (where else?). It wakes the hyperactive dragon in kids, so that’s great!

As my girlfriend is going to celebrate the “Walpurgis Nacht” with her witch coven (basically her weird friends that like to dance nude around a fire while chanting Latin mumbo jumbo), she asked me to make a track for that.
To get into the mood, I watched the really excellent 3 hour documentary “Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror” and some stuff about the medieval witch hunts and the inquisition.
WTF?
As I was playing around with some classical inspired stuff anyway, I just combined that with some Celtic elements and EBM/industrial.
Not the stuff that most members will listen too, but that’s ok.
As a result, I proudly present “Walpurgis Nackt” (= Walpurgis Nude)

It is very cinematic. Parts of it also remind me of The Residents in some ways.

The whole process of “conceiving” was a cinematic process: my mind was was full with pictures of what I saw in the folk horror documentary (which I really recommend to watch!!!) … and full of fantasies of what my girlfriend and her witch friends would do next weekend (basically the dancing nude around the fire part … I’m just a guy, can’t help it).
I changed the track so often, until my girlfriend said: “THIS is what the weekend will feel like!”
I don’t know why she mentioned “orgasm” so much, but I do trust her 100%, so I’m not worried
I know the Residents, but I admit I have never listened to them consciously, shame on me. I just know that they always had weird outfits and backdrops.
I need to relisten!
Now I’m listening to my track again, and I have to think of the energy of early Einstürzende Neubauten, at least at the end, when everything explodes. This is where the comparison ends, as they are the Gods of hard noise (in their early phase).
It was not a conscious goal, but it might have happened because I recently recorded my coffee machine for a future track, with the plan to make an Einstürzende Neubauten style track, only made out of samples from the coffee machine

I wanted to make a song with the classic setup: vocals, bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar and drums.
That was a “schwere Geburt”, as they say in Germany.
I had a B52s / DAF crossover tune torturing my mind for some time, so the song itself was done quickly, in terms of composition.
The lyrics part was also easy, as I used a few words from another song I worked on, then changed almost everything and gave it a completely different meaning.
Superficially, it’s about breathing. Superficially…
My girlfriend was nice enough to sing, and that was great, as I discovered something new in her (after 25 years together). Looking forward to do more stuff with her
The most complicated part was the final mix. So many mistakes, so much to learn, so many iterations. I found out that creating traditional songs is much harder than noodling down some electronic stuff - but don’t tell my DJ/Techno friends…
Now the song has reached a state where I’m not ashamed anymore, so I can finally let it go.
