Post your practice fragments!

Got a couple covers stacked up that we are working on; this is part of the second one in the pile. I’m playing both guitar and bass in this snippet.

Guitar is slightly wrong towards the end, bad tab I think. Or it could just be that I’m not really a guitar player

The bass tab is actually wrong too but I kind of like it so I left it as it was.

Nice piece Howard @howard,
Your guitar playing wasn’t as bad as you said🤔
Actually I liked it👍

Your guitar playing is coming along very nicely, as far as I can tell, @howard . Some slight tuning issue perhaps?!? I am not sure at all though… Maybe it is just because it is (still) very clean/dry in this version!?!

The rest? Super solid… playing, sound, mix :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thanks! Yeah, the guitar is just very lightly amp/cab simmed with a little reverb. Needs more. Should be in tune though

Part of this is I have a very clean sounding guitar to begin with. The Pacifica is a very, very clean, chimey (strat-style) guitar. I need to dirty it up for it to sound good at all.

Luckily though my friend is a good guitarist, and his Gretsch dirties up nicely. Just edited in his first guitar take on our current cover:

I’m pretty happy with how this one is going. I’ve had the bass and drums done for a while, so vocals, mix, and master are all that’s left.

Also I love my Orange amp sim. There is no distortion effect used in that at all - it’s just his guitar clean into the amp and cab sim. The sim does a great job of emulating the classic Orange high gain sound.

Well, I was on my PC in FL Studio, making a very basic track, until my SSD froze. Now my custom PC doesn’t even boot up.

But that’s okay, I still have a laptop.

Equipment used:

Yamaha RBX170
VOX Amplug 2
HP Pavillion Dv6 Laptop
Audacity Software

Was having some latency issues, adjusted some settings, and was still having minor latency issues. Mainly attribute it to a sub par CPU.

Thems the breaks.

Very nice, @Sp33dSnakr . . .

Sounds like background music for a movie!

I happen to know the name of the title:

Nice! I like the vibe to that.

I listened to it on my phone but could barely hear the bass. I’ll try again when I get home with headphones. The backing track is loud and clear.

Yah, sorry about that. I was listening to it through my headphones when I exported it. When played through my laptop speakers, I can barely hear the bass.

On the plus side, I ordered a spare SSD for the PC with a data transfer cable, so I should be able to flash the hard drive onto the new one and get my PC running again. (maybe)

Also picked up an audio interface:

It would also be somewhat intelligent not to just go, "Ahh, fuck it, I’ll just do this one take and it’ll be good enough. " LOL

@Sp33dSnakr okay I got home and first thing I did was put on the headphones and listen to your track on my laptop. This time I could hear the bass, and it’s a magnificent bassline indeed.
I still recommend you add a little beef to your bass track though, as it was buried in the mix.
Nice job playing though!
