Yep! I have one, though it’s a Squier.
There are a whole lot of P-like and PJ models, by various brands, that offer narrower nut widths and thinner neck profiles. For one, I had a Sandberg VS-4 that had a super-thin neck and a 1.5" nut width.
Might as well get a PJ too!
I have all 3, i like the Jbass for slap, the pbass for pretty much everything else the vast majority of the time.
Sometimes I play the j or the pj (with flats ) and think “that sounds amazing”; sometimes different is nice… and then i go back to playing my pbass again
I’ve narrowly avoided buying a 6st bass a couple of times lately… I really do “need” a semi-hollow bass though
I’ve got a P, two flavors of J, and a PJ, so my next one is going to be a P/MM to cap things off.
“cap things off”… yeah.
n+1
I could never get my p bass to work in the band I’m in. It’s highly likely that I was doing something wrong but we just couldnt get it to sit in the mix well.
Then again, that was a few years ago. Im wondering if I tried again now I’ve played more that it’d be better. I mean, tons of bands use the damn things so why can’t I?
I’m talking myself into another p bass aren’t I…
Jazz style for me. Nothing wrong with the Precision, the Jazz just feels better to play in my opinion, and I like it’s tone much more. Mind, I do not own a P, just played a handful in store.
I do have a P/J, and I often play that with just the P pickup, but I’m, guessing some folks wont see that as the same thing (I dont either).
I have a Fender Jazz and a Sire MM P5. Between the two of them, I love playing both equally. However when it comes to learning a song, for some reason I tend to get the hang of it faster on the Jazz. It’s not just the 5 string vs. 4 string thing. I also pick up songs faster on the Jazz compared to my 4 string Spector Dimension.
Something about the Jazz just makes it easy.
This is a superlative video detailing all the things you want to know and see and hear with the most wide-angle perspective on it all.
I love it.
