Good question. Style mostly.
I was thinking in terms of something like a 2025 MIJ Hybrid II vs a more classic MIA '60s or '70s style made before 2010 or so, but those are kind of extremes and the year isn’t the biggest factor.
The Hybrid II is about 4kg even, for comparison - 8.8lbs. So, not terrible but not exactly light either.

I love San Dimas I just wish that Chavel makes a P bass neck though.
Do you not like the San Dimas neck? That compound radiused, rolled edged, caramelized maple slice of beauty?
I love everything about San Dimas, from the name that made famous by Bill & Ted, to delicious color options to the brand. All except for I wish to have a P neck on it.
I think that neck - the San Dimas neck - is my favorite neck across the board. It flip-flops, though, between that and the Fender American Deluxe Dimension neck.
I’m not a huge fan of the San Dimas’ preamp, though, or the DiMarzio pickups. I’m seriously this → ← close to putting the San Dimas neck on my Fender Player Jazz and going all Frankenbass. 
Now that’s the neck I want on most of my basses.
