Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. Have been an ELO fan since the early '70s.
Zoom (labeled as “ELO” but mostly Jeff) and his solo Armchair Theatre are some lesser know works but no less worthy.
When I was a kid there was this certain sound I just absolutely loved. I associated it mostly with George Harrison stuff, but as I got older I realized that ELO kinda sounded like some of George’s stuff, and/or vice versa and eventually it became clear that THAT sound I loved was Jeff Lynne. Anything he puts his magic ears on just has this ethereal something something. Huge fan of Jeff Lynne obviously.
One night with a few adult beverages under my belt, I sang some ELO on karaoke night. I sang Telephone Line and Mr Bluesky! The only thing to differentiate me from Jeff Lynn is that I sang them death metal style!
