I put Duncan Apollo pickups in mine for that very reason, to cancel the noise

I’ve been looking at the Dimarzio Area J’s.

I would go Area J over Apollo’s if I were to do it again. I’ve got an Area J in my Dark Queen paired with a Sixties P, and I like it on the bridge.

I like Dimarzio

But I got the Apollo’s at no cost so no complaints

Fender MIM roasted maple Jazz neck. Gloss front, satin back.

Black neck plate from Solo music.

More parts on the way.

How much did you end up spending on the neck? It looks great against the white body.

I can’t discuss price on an unencrypted forum @AnotherJosh in case my wife reads this post

Wise words @Barney. I will live by that.

Well, I CAN get started on the TaxiBacker this weekend…I haven’t received the yellow paint yet (been over 12 days) but I can get started on the neck. Tomorrow, the Moolah Bass makes its final trip to Terry’s for minor issues.

Cutting a new nut. A first for everything I guess.

So a big thumbs up for the Music Nomad bass nut file set. Expensive? Absolutely. But really consistent cut, easy to cut fast but also you can shave off a tiny amount with accuracy.

The MIM neck just has tiny slots to mark the strings. So unlike a Graphtech nut they aren’t pre slotted to approximate depth. So you’re effectively cutting from a blank nut.

Much cheaper Amazon sets are available (I have a set) these cut better and are easier to control. Maybe ask Santa :santa:?

I was gonna say holy crap that neck wood! But then figured out it was a reflection.

Those tuners look great!

Those aren’t so bad - less than $100 for the whole set.

I’d want them if I had to cut a new nut from scratch. Not needed for most stuff really, but to cut from an unslotted blank they would be a good buy - way better than StewMac’s normal set anyway (at $60 per file!). Looks like StewMac’s offering cheaper ones now though too, which is nice.
