Project Basses

Primer and paint this morning. It was a relatively calm and sunny morning, pretty good conditions to paint. The body has a little more grain than I thought. I’m not bothered by it though.

I’m not trying to do an exact ripoff of Simon Gallup’s bass, but more taking inspiration from it.
Painted this dragon onto my bass this evening.

Very cool! But Gallup seems to have the Dutch Lion on his bass. Which is the pinnacle of coolness, of course.

Maybe redo it?

Lions are actually quite common in heraldry

Yeah - but the Dutch Lion eats the other lions for breakfast

Certainly not the KNVB one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Hahahaha! That’s true, unfortunately. Their charge should be this:

Which explains, why our current coach looks like this (right):

EDIT the guy on the left is our current king :frowning:

Nah, the Bohemian lion is the sh*t. He can strangle you by his double tail and beat you to death with his crown while sipping a pint of beer.

I think he has some kind of flowers attached to his tail, probably for his boyfriend
And that’s not a crown … it’s a tiara.
The Bohemian lion is clearly a lover, not a fighter!

Slowly I’m starting to understand, why @Paul_9207 painted a dragon instead of a lion.

“Funny” bit of trivia. The second tail was granted to a bohemian king by Holy Roman emperor for the king’s participation in a military campaign.

It’s cause his original “tail” was not very impressive. But, ok, it’s rather cold in Bohemia ^^

I would love to see how a heraldic company tries to interpret this coat of arms.

A well researched heraldic sign needs a good origin story:

“And on the 4th day since the solstice, armies of California stood at ready to fight the holy war of legalization with the red, yellow, and green banners held high, even above the proud guest regiment of Colorado. Only the loud cry of Newsom the Dreadful, riding his faithful Prius, was heard: “And as the lion of Snoopity snoop smileth upon you, you found it’s your holy obligation to fight for glory and the future of our, high, way, so here you are. Follow me!” and with the battle choral of “Smoke weed every day” the armies of the west and the east clashed. Vaporizers shattered and EVs splintered.”
