Maybe some of you have heared of this guy called @JoshFossgreen? He seems to have a very obscure bass-focused YouTube channel and has posted this video some time ago:

As long as I don’t post covers I will consider myself a beginner, so this Josh guy might have some valid points.

What worries me most is muting. My muting still s#cks on 4 string, in my opinion.
On the other hand, I might be forced to tackle floathing thumb muting, so that’s a good thing.

So, get this 5-string or continue my eternal search for a (4-string) short scale?

No worries, in my job I follow the rule “form follows function”, and the EHB1005SMS seems to do that pretty well!
Maybe I can get used to it - otherwise I will adapt … with wig, lipstick and striped spandex ^^

@swiens - any news?

I am still undecided. 60/40 - Ibanez/Reverend, currently.

Phoned with Thomann today about the Ibanez. The bass specialist told me that the Ibanez is great - but he would never buy it as it is UGLY :slight_smile:
Also quality can be hit & miss, especially the frets can be done properly … or often not.

Maybe I should give up bass an play triangle. They all look the same ^^

If you float your thumb, muting is not much of an issue. In fact I dabbled on a 6 string at one time, and it forced me to have good form for muting instead of the sloppy technique which got my by on a four string. So I count that as a plus actually.

Call me crazy but I embrace these little challenges. What color spandex are you getting? You should check out Electric Callboy, you might fit right in

Spandex can be a cow pattern only - cause I’m Dutch!

Yeah, true. But I am one of those subtle, restrained Dutch that don’t want to get too much attention - so cow it is. Need to blend in ^^

The Dutch language is more like Japanese. Words can mean many things and are not easily translated. Maybe it’s just a communication challenge??! :slight_smile:

I think someone posted a picture of Nederlanders in a group wearing red and white striped shirts, just like Waldo. Great example - very loud outfit, yet that guy can blend in anywhere :rofl:

That would be me, thank you very much! But that was a picture of the “Kölner Karneval”, which is in Cologne/Germany.
You are half right though, as the Cologne mentality is very close to the drunk Dutch mentality.
