Ive talked to a few about a upgrade. They are telling me to come in, try the yamahas they have before spending any money on a Fender J or P, Rickenbacker, etc. And these bass’s are more than the Yamahas being mentioned. Some in the BB series are above the 1 grand mark. Many are in the 600.00 to 800.00 range as well. Ive seen fender j and p on reverb for 500.00 some new and are basic styles and colors and some used. Basixally everywhere i go brings up trying a yamaha first. I talked to someone at sweerwater and they too, yamaha, lakland and I cant recall the other brand they brought up to try first? I am dephinately gonna try out some yamaha’s before spending any money on a second bass.

Oh yeah you don’t buy Yamahas because they are inexpensive. They are just inexpensive for what you get. The Yamahas in the $800 range (BB734A, etc) will easily compare well against MIA Fenders ($1500+, etc).

I still love my TRBX304 & play it often. It feels a bit heavy but it has a nice deep sound and I’ve always liked the thumb depression in the pickup.

I have a Yamaha TRBX504 and I love it!

Almost every time I see a bass without catching what it is and my first reaction is ‘Ooohh, pretty want’. It turns out to be a Yamaha.

I hope they never screw up and majorly change the designs.

Given that the TRBX, the “modern looking” model, is a combination of their longer running TRB and RBX lines I don’t think that’s a danger

Yamaha has been making cool quirky instruments for decades. I have loved my SBV’s a lot.

Cool! Is it black, or do I detect a hint of very dark red/purple…?

Hey Mike. My bass is Translucent Brown, but it does have a purplish hue.

Here’s a different picture of my TRBX504…looks more brown in this one…

Very nice! It definitely looks slightly purple to me. Could be the light or the camera… Either way, beautiful looking bass!

It’s actually a really cool color - the best of the original 504 colors IMO. You can also just barely see through to the woodgrain. I was hunting for one of these used when my 604 turned up.

I’m an avid MIA Fender guy, but yeah, actually it’s true.
