Recording _Signal treatment

Hello, I’m working on a bassline for a friend’s instrumental track. The idea is to record it later at his place in a small home studio. I’m wondering about using a DI box; I have the SansAmp Paradriver. Is it necessary to use it? Preferable? Or not at all? I also have the Zoom MS-60B +. So, I’m deciding between going for the most neutral sound possible (SansAmp) and shaping it as needed, or using a pedal with a plethora of simulations. What’s the better option? Maybe going without anything is the way to go? I forgot I got a Marcus Miller V3 (so active). Thnx for your opinion

I usually use my Radial Engineering DI to 4i4 its just muscle memory. Everything else I need I can do it in post.

I think it’s a great idea to bring the DI.
My experience is:

I bring the gear that I know and like to a recording session.
The person doing the recording will either:
a.) Love that you brought stuff and use it.
b.) Have their own stuff that they prefer.

There’s no downside to bringing something that doesn’t get used.

It sucks when you show up and then wish you had something!
