Replacement Pickguards

An alternate option would be to go to https://gig.ink/

Tim produced a custom pick guard for me using the first deep field image from the JWST. It’s beautiful. You can specify any image you like, so a personal photograph would not be a problem.

He could also produce a completely clear pick guard.

Tim is U.K. based.

Sounds like a great option.

I think I’ve said this before, but I love this pickguard!

I’m not super savvy on this stuff, but I wonder if there’s a place online where people might be sharing free pickguard specs for 3D printing. I know there’s a lot you can find online now, and then you can take it to a printer and make it out of whatever you want. Might be an option if you have an idea you can’t find anywhere else.

This site is just awesome! I love how you can select your bass and see how the pickguard would look on it. Bookmarking in case I ever want to replace mine.

That would be very helpful!

Maybe there’s a 3D-printing nerd on here that knows. I don’t even know what the websites are where people share schematics (is that even what they’re called?), but I know they exist.

Usually, it’s this: Search Thingiverse - Thingiverse

But for me it was not useful…

He didn’t have a Dingwall Combustion template. I sent him mine to use and I what I got back was perfect! It’s a very easy way to change the look of your bass - I often search through the JWST images to see if there is anything else that takes my fancy!

Anyone know if Fender P bass pickguards will also fit Sire Marcus Miller P series Basses?

ive got the below ashdown ‘the saint’.

after much umming and ahhing about replacing it with a dedicated precision, ive decided to keep it. so…… id like to spruce it up with a replacement pickguard.

id decided white pearloid or silver glitter would look best, so contacted Tim at gig.ink, but…… he only does patterns, no silver glitter or pearloids. helpful bloke tho and sent me some ideas, one of which was a paisley pattern which i really liked. went down the paisley rabbithole and theres a few different options from psychedelic paisley to black paisley….

he sent me a link to his site for playing around with colours….

so……just after opinions please. what do you all think might look best with the baby pink colour? i really cant decide between a paisley of some sort, a metallic vinyl, or…. stick out for my original wish for white pearloid and go elsewhere…..

thanks

Tim at Gig Ink does great work. Both of my custom pick guards are from him. The Dingwall sports the first deep field picture from the JWST and the 50s p bass, a design from his catalog.

Ive often thought about hydrodipping pickguards and applying cerecoteclear like they do with firearm parts.

The problem I’ve had with aftermarket guards is the fit is usually not perfect. Where if you use the factory guard and modify it, the fit won’t change.

I want to red paisley the white pickguard on my red p-bass. I think it would look cool.

You’re probably not looking for this answer but I think the pickguard looks great as-is with the white

White pickguard on pastel is one of my favorite looks.

do you know what, i think i agree  my wife also looked on in astonishment when i showed her all the different patterns and said pretty much the same.

that being said, do you think white pearloid would add something to the plain white?

thanks

pearloid is nice! Some like it better.

For me I prefer the solid white. White pickguard, pastel colors and maple necks are such a good look, it’s like a Creamsicle

Pearloid would be a nice choice too though and some like it more.

Mine fit perfectly. I sent Tim at Gig Inc the original, enabling him to ensure an exact match. He then sent back both the original and the custom.
