Replacement Pickguards

Anyone have a good source for pickguard replacements, other than pickguards.com / wdmusic.com?

I want to get a checkerboard pickguard, but I want it to be brown on white instead of black on white. I’ve already asked the aforementioned supplier, they can only do black on white.

I am selling one I never used now, in fact. High quality, inexpensive.

Precision Guitar AZ on ebay is who I got my last one from. I think they sell on Amazon too.

There are quite a few sources out there but any one of them is gonna be limited by being able to economically source the material needed to produce what you want.

My suggestion would be to search for the brown and white checkerboard acrylic you’ll need. Then you can ship that to them or even have a local tech or craftsman make you one using your current pickguard to produce a template to work from.

Unless the brown and white sheets are “widely” available you won’t be able to get it. However you can make it for a few bucks with the widely available white pickguard and just paint the pattern on it or make it out of fabrics then sandwich together like Sandberg Ida Nelson signature bass’s pickguard.

Can you explain this?

I believe I can.

Find a piece of material in the color and pattern you need. Stretch it over and glue it to a plain white pickguard. Mount a clear pickguard on top of it an voila’ you have what you want. I’m certain others have done this or something like it before.

Depends on where you are based. These folks can produce whatever you want - if you can imagine it, they’ll likely be able to produce it.

They created a pick guard for my Dingwall using the first publicly available deep field image from the James Webb Space Telescope for me. It’s beautiful…

try DECOBOOM.COM lots of unique stuff

I had my daughter draw up a design on mine. I had to sand the pickguard to rough it up a bit, then coated it with primer first. Then she used acrylic paint markers for her art, then I sealed it in with a few coats of glossy clear coat.

Nice, that is a true custom!

Thanks, definitely an aesthetic upgrade from the black on black theme the bass came with.

That rules.
Give your daughter a massive high five from me, a bassist and also artist and cartoonist.
