Replacing Tone Pot with Nordstrand Tone Drop

Yasss! Do it  For reals tho that sounds like a fun bit of modding!

Oh yeah the hum problems with my stock pickups were for real. That was why I went with the NJ4SE pickup since they’re split singles and make a HUGE difference both with hum as well as just having a much nicer tone than the stock.

I really love hearing how people use things in actual practice so your insight is super helpful! I can definitely see the set and forget appeal as well as the versatility. The cost is a drawback tho… especially when I’m already eyeing potential 5 strings for my next project

That got an actual snort.

Thank you for sharing that email! It was absolutely fascinating to have everything broken down so thoroughly by someone who is clearly very passionate.

Thanks everyone for your input on this! It was incredibly helpful. I did go the DIY route for funsies and to save some cash.

I picked up some .022, .047, and .1 capacitors to play with. After sitting with different configurations for a few days I ended up making myself a Tone Duel Cap Push/Pull with the .022 and the .1 instead of a Tone Drop dupe. I also ended up putting in new volume pots, fresh wiring to get rid of the old jank, and a new gold tone barrel jack to match the rest of my gold hardware as long as I was mucking about.

Still haven’t gotten the new neck pickup yet cuz of some unexpected bills, but aside from that I think I’m actually done modding this bass?
