It is with a very heavy heart that I have to share the news of the passing of @pampurrs, our Bad Ass Bass Gal. She passed late last night after her third battle with cancer.
Pam has touched (and continues to touch) so many people within the BassBuzz community. Her constant positive and helpful attitude has inspired us all.
I personally became very close (virtually) to Pam, and consider her one of my closest friends, although we only met in person once. She was the reason I started recording myself, a huge motivator for playing and practicing and striving for better, and a dear dear friend. Pam was also a very cunning and sneaky motivator of G.A.S, who loved to see me buy things she recommended. She was ‘helpful’ that way. I am lucky enough to own her DAI, and use it in my work apartment, and therefore she is with me every time I play there.
We had the most opposing views politically you could imagine, and in a time when people were disposing of folks who did not see eye to eye with their views, none of it mattered, as it shouldn’t. We always respected each other regardless, and this honestly gave me hope for lots of others out there.
Putting together the two-part course we did was so much fun, and we still get lots of feedback that it is helping people. The forum will always have that. This forum, and the people in it, meant the world to Pam. Sara has told me many times how much it meant to Pam. For those who don’t know, Pam picked up bass during her first round of cancer recovery, and played until she could no longer physically do it.
I personally feel that the tone of this forum, our ‘friendliest place on the internet’, owes a lot to Pam and her contributions to the forum.
Pam now joins our dear friend @Jazzbass19, another sweet, driving force here, as part of the BassBuzz immortal hall of fame, both of whom will always be missed here.
Goodbye my dear friend Pam, RIP
Please post your goodbyes here.
@joshfossgreen – in a few weeks, once folks have done so let’s close the thread in memorial.
