I saw Iron Maiden last Wednesday in Charlotte NC USA then San Antonio TX USA on Sunday 11/13 and 11/17. I woke up Monday with a floater in my right eye. I just had cornea transplants in both eyes in the last 18 months, so I was able to get in lickety split. It seems I had a tear in the retina of my right eye. My cornea doc made a phone call to the retina guy across the parking lot and I was getting it welded up with a laser in an hour or so. It kind of felt like either getting lithotripsy on the eyeball or getting a large nail hammered through to the temple. It feels a lot better 8 hours later. I’m not sure if Fear Of The Dark or The Trooper did it to me. It was two awesome shows for sure! I was on the rail for both and caught a wristband from Nicko McBrain in Charlotte! Much to the wife’s dismay, I added two more black t-shirts to the black band t-shirt collection!
Now that is something to brag about!
Bro goes hard
Do we need to start wearing eye protection as well as ear protection when we go to a concert?
full gimp suit
With ball gag.
Maybe stick to fist pumps instead of head bangs??
That is f@ckin’ Metal!
You should tell them, they’ll pay you for advertising rights!
Some funny stuff above!! I have a follow up tomorrow to make sure it’s good and not detaching. The surgery for that is pretty brutal and the recovery is worse. They put a bubble in your eye and you have to lay on your stomach for a couple weeks. Some of my friends continued on to Mexico to see Iron Maiden, I sure am glad that I didn’t!
We you trying to watch Steve’s fingers galloping individually?
I don’t feel quite right “liking” this, but I did anyway.
Seriously, though, I hope your eyes are ok, man.
Actually I took a couple of videos of just that! I’ve been up on the rail in front of him quite a few times with Maiden and British Lion. Everybody crowds towards the left by Adrian and Dave. I try to get just right of the center where Steve is or where Janick is.
Looking good so far, I go in for a follow up the day after tomorrow! I had to get a cornea transplant in each eye accompanied by simultaneous Cataract surgery in the last 18 months. The cataracts were very small but had to be done with the cornea transplants. Words of wisdom, take care of your eyes! If you notice something unusual like floaters or flashes, get seen asap, like ER asap!
Yeah I hear that and second it! I have pigmentary glaucoma, so my peepers get measured and imaged multiple times a year. I was very lucky because we caught it very early stage when there had only been very minimal damage.
Do you get a free pass to smoke dope?
Unfortunately no, but I live in Washington state, so I don’t need one. Though it would be nice to get the health insurance to pay for it.
Got my follow up today, the laser tack welding the other day took! I don’t have to have the surgery where i get the bubble in the eye and have to lay face down for four weeks while it heals! The Eye surgeons at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens are top notch! I’ve had a cornea transplant with cataract surgery in both eyes in the past 18 months as well as this retina tear. They put me back together and I barely need glasses!
I’m glad to hear it’s going well.
