It is really fascinating when they attempt to pull something like that off.
Not to derail this thread, but Alfonso Cuarón (the movie director) is known for such shots, and one of the greatest are in a movie called “Children of Men” (google “Children of Men long take” for example - there are at least three stunning ones in that movie alone).
Kei Kobayashi is a guy, the producer, who I met. I was at a show in Portland in the disabled zone, next to the backstage curtain, and he popped out a couple times to gauge the crowd. I nodded at him, he nodded back.
Hitometal, the manager, whom the girls call Mama, is a woman, and keeps a very low profile. Wasn’t sure who you meant lol.
and - @LeftyChad - I’m about to play an Autumn Equinox wedding today… on a Monday here… and we’re playing Soul Stew. It’ll be Petaluma Soul Stew, but I’m so stoked to play these grooves.
From a discussion in another thread, if you never got the chance to see Brian Setzer with his big band orchestra, you missed one of the most amazing walls of sound ever.
Pure fun and he is insanely talented. https://youtu.be/KXqDFYJcdSQ?t=18
Back in 81 or 82 I used to put the Stray Cats in the rotation on my college alternative rock show, from British imports before they had a US album. Caught them live in a ballroom in Wisconsin back then and they were fan-tastic.
All right, I’m going old school here. Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Herb Ellis (my favorite jazz guitarist).
Note how each of them sings the notes as they play, even crazy 64th note runs. That is a level of musical understanding that I don’t think I’ll ever reach, but aspire to. https://youtu.be/337hbXJD9vk
Love that band. Fumiya and Jill are seriously great musicians, not to mention Shiren. And of course Fuki is all over the map; love her work with Gachapin.
Hmm, no Shiren in that video though. Wonder what’s up with him. Maybe his hand injury is acting up.
