I had the pleasure years ago of seeing Wesley Willis live at The Bug Jar in Rochester, NY.
A schizophrenic who was completely serious in his music, he had a cult following of his rather unique tunes. He was a beloved part of Chicago for many years.

Here are some of his ‘greatest hits’.

A one-time popular morning show out here in the L.A. market - The Kevin & Bean Show on 106.7 KROQ - used to play Wesley Willis tunes. They had him on for interviews a couple of times.

I think they were doing it in the name of humor. I didn’t realize he was schizophrenic.

A friend turned me on to this guy last night.
Do yourself a favor and just let it play through.
I’m fascinated.

Julie Slick sitting in for Tina Weymouth

She does an awesome job, and Adrian continues to torture his guitars :joy:

(Remain In Light was a hallmark album in my musical development)

Wild! Too bad Chris and Tina couldn’t make it.

This is such a good song. Not my genre usually, but the jazz chords, descending progressions, choral elements, time signature changes. ikura, the vocal artist, knocks it out of the park, with all her flips back and forth between her first and second register, and the fact that you get most of the way through the song before there’s a pause for her to take a full breath. Her breath control is outstanding.

Not to mention the lyrics are a sendup of the Idol industry, which is fitting as it’s the theme song for Oshi no Ko, an anime about Idols, murder, love, reality tv, and revenge. All a round it’s a very smart song.

That actually could be a vocaloid

She performs it live too

It actually sounds more like a voice acting technique used while singing to me, though could be effects to enhance it. She still flips registers a lot
