Hey @T_dub,
I have just been watching some of the Ramones on YouTube and read some of the Wikipedia stuff.
I can appreciate their contributions to punk and music, but I was never into the punk stuff in the seventies, eighties etc.
I see some of their influences came from McCartney of whom I loved in that timeline.
Ram, red rose speedway , band on the run etc. all good.
The Wikipedia speel says they were not a commercial band and wanted to make their mark outside of the main arena, and gathered a cult following.
I loved black sabbath and still do, and it seems they were similar in that they developed a cult following running parallel to each other in different genres of music.
At the same time I would say the sex pistols and led zeppelin had the commercial exposure more so?
I can honestly say Iām not a zeppelin fan, I only have a couple of albums, physical graffiti and in through the out door, both of which are great, but I donāt rate them as I rate sabbath.
I like heaps of diverse stuff, rammstien, nightwish, k d Lang ,Has somesome great bass lines In her music, eagles, u2 , Steve Miller band, Cyndi boste (Australian artist) who is an amazing songwriter.
Ramses (German prog rock) YES have every recorded album, saw them live with best line up squire, wakeman,Howe,Anderson, white.
No Trevor Rabin
Bad company , Boston, REO Speedwagon, Kansas
Just to name a few.
Cheers
Thatās awesome, but I hope that my remark was not offensive, it was only meant to be playful. However it did get a great reply, I love what you just wrote, I just hope it was not writte, from a stance of offense, or defense rather
All good @T_dub,
This is what makes forums good is everyone expressing their likes and dislikes in a non offensive way.
Iām the first to take the p155 out of anybody including myself.
@terb
Oh yeah
Hey @terb
Sounds like Metallica mixed with heaps of other stuff
much less metal but more stoner than Metallica IMHO ! itās more āthe end of rockā than āthe beginning of metalā in my opinion
Yeah this is even on the edge of Grunge. This would not be at all out of place in a playlist with, say, Nirvanaās Bleach. Very cool.
Some very impressive bass playing here:
If you love Billie Jean try playing this one
Its a very simple bassline but hard to play, at least i think it is.
A funky early hip hop gem from 1968. I donāt know who played bass on this.
One of my favorites:
hey guys lost and alone late on a friday night. so am i so lets listen to a song!
the first time i heard this song as god as my witness i thought paul was singing my moms name i was young but i loved this song so much well im old now and i love it as much if not more than that 1st day i heard it. i hope you hear the words i did but this bass line is just amazing this song is one of many reasons i fell in love with the rhythm section stay strong stay safe! paul stanley wrote it
(Josh edit note: moved this post from a separate topic as it was meant to go here, hence the strange timestamp)
new EP from the french band Second Cockpit. this is a kinda post-rock piano/drum duo. very good music in my opinion.
I think āLifes Rich Pageantā was my first REM album as a 17yr old something. I rediscovered them (after a very long time) after reading an interview with Michael Stipe about 6 months ago. I came back to this album and have since realised what a beautiful song this is in many ways. Itās a sheer joy to play along to, and was the first song I learnt how to play more than one note at a time to (check out the chorus).
Hope you enjoy it
Damn @terb⦠When it comes to music genres, you and I have always in the past been on separate spectrums, BUT, with this score,⦠Iām lost for words⦠a truly emotional experience that has me almost in tears. The flats thrown in at just the right places have me lost in a feeling of sorrow⦠This my friend is GREAT music. Music made the way music was meant to be be made with feeling, emotionā¦
Thanks for sharing this⦠You have made my day, evening, and weekendā¦
I can only imagine what this score would sound like with a Double Bass accompliceā¦
Keep on Thumpinā!
Lanny
Iām really happy you appreciate ! Iāve known this band only today, because the piano player is a good friend of a good friend or mine
here is the full record : Dreams are fake | Second Cockpit
Thatās really good, I absolutely love it.
Thereās another French pianist I like a lot, Maxence Cyrin - he does interpretive covers of bands from Joy Division to Beyonce and they are fantastic.
But I actually like Second Cockpit more - that was really great and emotive
I have some very vivid memories from Document
That album dropped at a weird time in my life.
