Nice, @terb - and I especially like how you catch me “off-guard” sometimes
I know very well that you are certainly not one-dimensional in your music taste, but this is surprisingly, and soothingly, far from Cattle Decapitation and the like
Speaking of duos… they are such an intimate conversation between two musicians.
Some of my favorite bass-piano duos:
First off: Jeff Berlin and Dave Stewart on Bill Bruford’s “Palewell Park”
Equally enthralling: Frans Vollink and Coen Molenaar on “Hidden Dreams” (not sure about the composer; @peterhuppertz might know!?)
Hi @joergkutter,
I will have a listen to this stuff👍
Bill bruford was a previous drummer in yes
Cheers Brian
Oh, yes (no pun intended), and King Crimson, and UK… - I know all about Bruford
One of my all-time favorite drummers!!
so, another one I love, but it won’t surprise you as you know you can be surprised ![]()
still a band I really love. I saw them playing live at least 3 or 4 times and it has always been awesome.
For some reason, Second Cockpit immediately reminded me of this:
The arrangement clearly has Frans’ DNA all over it, but I think it’s a collaborative effort of Frans and Coen. I think the main theme is a Coen thing.
Makes perfect sense!
I guess whether you like this piano cover may depend on whether you like the original group and the genre, but I find it an intense bit of music.
Love both the original and that cover!
What do people think about sharing playlists (Tidal, Spotify, etc) for music on occasion, and not just single tracks?
This thread is a really good idea, and I’ve picked up a lot of good tracks.
But I guess the people posting may also have a collection of similar tracks in a playlist, and some people may really like the extended list on the same style?
Apologies if this has already been discussed, I haven’t scanned the entire thread.
whole album seems good:
Some of us share full albums sometimes so I don’t see a problem sharing playlists
Yes, no problem as such… other than potentially some overload
For @Mark_UK and more recent members:
- this all started with the idea to share a few songs/tracks once a week (Friday)
- then it became Friday +/- 1 day
- now, it is any day of the week
- then whole albums started to appear
- and now, with entire playlists… it is just a bit “inflationary”, at least for me - it gets harder and harder to keep up, listen to all examples, and even begin to appreciate it all (which usually takes several listens).
But, most of that is probably my personal challenge - sharing playlists is likely very beneficial for many others
… daaaaaang!
Remind me to rewatch this when I complain about my hand size.
WOW!!
A cover of Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana.
The more I listen to that Coldbones track the more I like it. Have to check out the rest of their tracks.
Sometimes the best tracks by rock groups are when they control the aggression and keep it on a slow burn
