Joe Dirt
A feel good story about a man overcoming life’s obstacles only to become admired, revered, worshipped. Spreading the word of love and family, showing the world that, “Life’s a garden, dig it!”
Shamefully it was snubbed by the academy.
Heavier Trip. Finnish Death Metal band Impaled Rektum escapes prison to play at Germany’s Wacken Festival
Very dark Belgian comedy from 1992. Made for absolute peanuts and full of interesting ideas about violence, reality tv etc.
Absolutely NSFW / definitely not for everyone.
I’ve read about this flick but I haven’t watched it yet. Sounds intriguing.
Momento.
Unique and fresh take on a very simple plot.
The last movie I watched on Netflix was the Rip, it’s also excellent.
Memento, correct? I dug it.
Yeah good Flix there.
Have you seen Shatter? Tom Berringer I think, it’s a while back, 90s? Good one too.
For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, Sinners is an amazing movie.
It has just broken the record for most Academy Awards nominations: 16.
That’s no surprise, though. The entire production, cast and soundtrack is superb. Director Ryan Coogler also wrote the screenplay and produced it. And Michael B. Jordan does a fantastic job playing twin brothers in the film.
Highly recommended.
Moon 2009
Directed by David Bowie’s son!
Don’t read any reviews. Watch it without knowing absolutely anything about it and it’s a real treat.
Oh nobody in this thread spoil it it or there’ll be trouble ![]()
Wife and I just watched it, weird but pretty good overall. Takes a while to put it together.
Moon is a great movie.
Watched it, loved it. Sam. The entire cast is killer, but Sam Rockwell, one of my all-time fave actors, is outstanding. He is so fucking good in everything he’s in.
Now, THAT’s funnier than anything in that whole damn movie. ![]()
Watched the re-release of the Lord of the Rings in theaters this week. Extended versions, remastered and Peter Jackson gave a short chat before each movie. Really enjoyed them (again), and enjoyed that my daughter (who wasn’t born when they first came out) liked them as well…..
After all of the discussion around Blade Runner’s various versions, I bought the Final Cut version on Prime Video, and watched it back-to-back with 2049 a couple of night’s ago. And, yeah, the ending of the Final Cut was the best.
Yeah it’s basically the definitive cut for me
28 Years later, The Bone Temple has a few surprises in it!
Speaking of bones, two films are very worth watching:
The Lovely Bones
Bone Tomahawk
Saorise Ronan and Stanley Tucci star along with an all-star cast in the first. Fantasy thriller that hits.
Kurt Russell stars in the second. A western that’s creepy AF.
The only streaming service I can find it on here in France is the Outbuster channel on Amazon Prime. No rental option, just a sub of 6 € per month. Too bad. It sounds like a good way to waste 70 minutes. [That running length suggests Direct to Video.]
