Andy was the oldest of the band, with a history of playing with lots of bands, all the way back to Eric Burdon and the Animals. He grew up with guitars with this type of traditional design.
When I interviewed The Police, the guys said they formed during the punk rock era and had some nods to punk in their earliest work, but they quickly evolved into a new wave band with elements of reggae, ska, and jazz.

I actually kind of like it.
I don’t hate this one as much as I should. It’s got a lot of things to hate, but somehow it wraps around to being kinda cool.
Bonus points for the matching burst on the headstock.
P.S. Why do I have a sudden craving for a raspberry sundae?

I just don’t get on with the stereotypical vintage Fender clone in tobacco sunburst. Add to that my aversion to pickguards, and you have one very fussy person lol.
I’m not really a fan of brown basses, either painted or bare wood. There are some very good looking basses in this thread though, and many that I didn’t know would be classed as a burst, so I’m happy to be proved wrong
