Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

When shopping for a 24 fret I had that one in my basket until I found the blue highgloss, we have slobbery Boxer’s x 3 you could imagine that on a mat black :joy:

Ye they would have licked it down to the bare wood by now for sure! Great starter bass though, so comfortable. I love using it for the course.

Welcome to the forum @helsleyrichard, nice birthday gift. Tell the giver my birthday is in January, and I trust their judgement

I would love to get an Orange Crush 50b. I had the Orange Crush 20b, but sold it yesterday (for a profit, resale value on Orange Amps is pretty good)
I liked it with my Ibanez GSR200 (sold) and SR300 (In Process of exchanging it at GC now), but it could not handle my Stingrays at all. Plus the 20b has issues with active electronics, when I was not using it for a headphone amp, I was getting more and more annoyed with it, so I sold it. I loved the tone and sounds I could get within the certain range, but in the end, just not enuf.
I am using my SWR WorkingMan 15 now, but I still want another amp, I am looking for something with 10” speakers, don’t like the 15” so much in the small room, and the 12” can still be a bit muddy (but I found a SWR WorkingMan 12 for $100, love the sound, but really want a 10”). There is a great Trace Elliot at a Pawn shop, but its 4x10” and more then I am looking for, price is right tho, anyway, I have not played thru an Orange Crush 50b. A little more then I want to spend right now, but if I found a deal, I would love to know what they sound like, even tho its a bigger speaker.
Love amp shopping…

I would own an Orange Amp based on that alone. LOL

Yes, they are, I do love the slim fast necks, and I really thought that it would be my favorite neck of all basses. And although i do still love them, and still have an SR400, I have started to learn to appreciate and love a fuller neck. not like a baseball bat, but just a bit more to it. I have come to love the neck on the StingRay basses. its not just the thickness, it is the shape, the nice round proportional shape that fits my hand just right. I do love my ESP LTD B-4E too, it is just between the Ibanez and Stingray.

@Tokyo_Rat inspired this :bomb: sticker bomb and @T_dub 's mention of a black bass. I made this bass to start the course, the body was a magenta and black Indian ink experiment that went horribly wrong. So it got a few coats of black and still looked ugly. Thanks for the inspiration. Although that neck belongs to another p bass project.

I keep thinking about my P copy but chickened out with a pickguard

That is amazing.

Sad to hear the inks didn’t work out. I really like using ink over paint for some things, especially transparent colors or highlighting.

With all those stickers, that thing might get lost in and around the plants!

Very cool.
I must admit, it looks better then a black bass.

For clarification, because I do own 2 black basses.
There is nothing wrong with them, I just prefer color on my basses.
My SLAYER Tom Araya bass, well, its black (with red strings)
and my Dean MetalMan bass, its black.
I got it because it is the same model Guitar that Dimebag played. But I think Dimebag would approve of a sticker bass, so I might make that one a sticker bass, if I can come up with Dimebag appropriate stickers, it can’t just be random stickers, its gonna take some hunting to come up with the right stuff, but I am liking the idea.
Thanks for sharing @Jamietashi, and good work

Hi everyone!

I’m new here, I joined the program yesterday from Belgium! Here is my actual gear, which I borrowed to a friend. The amp is now mine, but I have to give the bass back to its owner in september.

Regarding my futur bass, I have a question:
I really would like an instrument for the long term and I’m doubting about buying an fender P player or a Squier classic vibe '70s precision bass (I like the Precison song and style and I would like to keep the electronic passive…). For the long term, is the Squier a good idea?
knowing that I’m ready to upgrade it in a few years (micro and others parts), I’m curious to discover how to set up everything by myself. Or I should I go to the Mexican precision?
I have also a third choice which is the epiphone thunderbird vintage pro but I must test it in a shop first, I really like the look but never touch it! My final objective is to play my favorite song (which are mostly heavy metal such as Iron Maiden) and be able to play and improvise song. For the moment I’ve not seen particlar song that require a 5 string bass, so I’m not looking at it.
I don’t have (for now) a strong interest in slapping…) thank you so much for the advise! If I my question don’t belong to this topic, please tell me and I will change it.

Daniel
