Wow this is a beautiful bass. You got it? At first I was going to say change the electronics but the pickups are radius. It’s a built in ramp. Wow. I’m sure some wires just got disconnected somewhere. What kind of help do you need?
Great score man, that’s a beauty!
Well, there seems to be a lot of space under the hood to replace the electronics if needed. A DG Tone Capsule would probably fit in just fine
Congrats @T_dub Toby!
I had been looking for one of these for a while, but everything I had found was too heavy and had minimal sorry looking burl. I had pretty much given up on the search, and then out of the blue, I spotted this one today! And to top it off it was 15% off. Should be here by the end of the week! I’m pretty exited about this one!
That is really cool looking, congrats!
Nice find @T_dub !
That is a thing of real beauty @RuknRole
Thanks!
Awesome find. Don’t you love how, when you are finally ready to move on, the perfect option shows up just in time.
Comgratz
I doubt it has any problems electronically. Prob just needs a battery.
I got it on an EBay listing, by GoodWill in Seattle. I seriously doubt they knew anything about it.
Saw a string missing, probably plugged it into an amp, and with no battery, it made no noise, so they listed it saying electronics don’t work.
I will wait til it gets here, but I was gonna see what it needs, and / or what options there are to trick it out, and may need some of your connections to get some parts.
It shipped already, but won’t be here til next Tuesday.
I have a set of strings to throw on it, and a battery, so after I clean it up, string it, and set it up, and test it out, then I will know if it will need anything, and / or if I want to trick it out and then sell it.
I am not saying I will get a huge return, but looking at others that are listed and in super clean condition, they are starting at $1600.
Again, not thinking I will get that, but if I can double what I paid for it, I will be stoked.
That’s a fine looking instrument. There are a lot to like about the bass. It sure sounds like what we suspected earlier no battery. I just notice that there’s no screws on the battery cover and they taped it up.
I hope it an easy fix with new battery, screws and new strings and up you go.
Yeah, that would be ideal, but even if it needs a little work and a few bucks invested, I still think it is a good find.
Yeah. Worst case you completely redo the electronics and it’s still a good buy.
My Sire V7 arrived today.
Really overcast today so she looks a bit dull, but then so does everything. She will look better in light.
First thoughts, she looks well constructed, could not find any faults or fitment issues. The machine heads are nice, when tuning her up it was easier than my Fenders, smoother. Now to see how she stays in tune.
They gave me a silver plate to cover one of my pickups. But that would mean drilling holes for the screws, and for something that is only cosmetic not gonna happen.
I have to play it more to see what the rolled frets impart, but running your hand up and down the neck there are no pointy spots, all smooth.
Have not had a chance to try out her electronics. Just assuming everything works. Now to put on a new set of strings, as she is setup for through body stringing, and it would be a shame to to take advantage of that.
Question is which set of strings to put on. d’Addario EXL170 Chromes 45:100, or d’Addario ETB92 Tapewounds 50:105
On other fronts, been playing the Aerodyne a bit and wonder if the basswood body is why, but she resonates more than any other bass here and I get a lot more sympathetic vibrations in the strings. Need to stepup my muting game.
Nice, love the color.
Nice looking bass! Enjoy! Hope to see it in action!
I have an iRig on the way; still need to figure iout how to film but should have recordings soon
Welcome to the green bass club, the least popular and least selling bass/guitar color.
I think its gorgeous!
