Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

Think about what is about to happen in US. Prices will rise, quality will be cut to manage profits. Labor rates are going to rise for sure, already are.

In comes country A, B or C to become the new leader. I haven’t bought an American car in years. I don’t see the value Vs quality. Just not there. The only way I’d buy American made cars if it was something only america made. Like a JJeep.

Omg, that’s a mouthful model, lol. But Ibanez is very practical about their model name. Lemme guess quilted maple dragon eye burst? I remembered seeing that burst name. I’m sure is not the tech name Debbie.

You are correct.

Yeah, I knew the QM was for Quilted Maple.
I am not certain what the E is for.

I had a SR400 QM, and that was how it was labeled on the headstock.
I also has an SR3000, thats what was on the headstock.

The 400 had a cherry burst finish, mostly orange, It was awesome, but not called out in the P/N.
Also, the SR300 was Orange
But they were both a bit older, like 2010 for the 300 and around 2014 for the 400.

They both only had 4 controls, but were 3band with a stacked pot.
The more recent and current models that Ibanez makes with 3band eq have 5 knobs, no stacked pots.

I was wondering if the E was for that difference.
Otherwise, I am not sure what the difference between models with just numbers followed by an E, and ones that dont have the E.

But I am sure somebody knows.

I do like that Ibanez SRX 400 they have at AB Music tho, it feels really nice, and does not have that “flimsy” feel at all, it feels nice and solid.
Looks really cool too.

That looks stunning!! Man, there are just so many nice basses out there

They have a used silver (or perhaps, more officially, pewter grey) one on offer here for about 600 dollars…

Nice. Looks a bit like a shot across the bows of G&L and maybe the Joe Dart MM bass.

Interesting way to mount the pup as well. I only see one screw.

I think there’s at least 3 there if you enlarge the picture lurking in the shadows of the recess

One place remains empty, and I have no idea what to put in since BB424 I was after got sold before I came from vacation. Thinking of some full scale PJ, or 70s Jazz CV or Sire V9.

Help me how to spend money.

P.S. Still gotta gift that Jazz copy to somebody, so another spot will open up.

How many basses you need? Yes.

Here’s a bass that checks a lot of boxes. Maple neck, ash body, EMG pups & EQ, string through body

Here’s one I am thinking on, another good PJ option

Alder body, ebony fretboard, Seymour Duncan pups

The surveyor looks amazing… I just can’t find anyone in the entire country that has one I can try.

Yeah, the pearl white is gorgeous.

The pickup is really cool, well perfectly placed, and is shaped to have a thumb rest on the end of it.

The pock guard is extremely thick, so this is not the best bass to slap on. You can do it, but there is not a-lot of space between the string and top of the pick guard…
I love the look of this Pickguard. AL @Al1885 said he would rather put on a different one, or take it off so you can slap easier.

Well, no one ever gives me gifts, so if you twist my arm, I might take that off you

Well, you could always do a B2B raffle. $5 a ticket plus COS for the winner. Money goes into the Growl Children’s College Fund (aka beer money).

Or see if your local high school jazz band needs a bass. And take it as a charitable tax deduction.
