The Edwards way!
Looks as if you hit the jackpot for your first bass, @JEzzY66 . . .
Welcome to the forums!
(Schaller strap locks are a really good investment as well
)
Cheers

Ok, I finally got low enough pain level to sit and go thru and add the photo’s of the bass.
the lighting is a bit bright, it look more like a Vintera like @John_E has in person.
Like I said before, I am not too much into relic basses, but for some reason, this one seems to have been done with some style and class, at least to Mel
Not sure if I will replan the bridge or anything anything else, but I sill have to wait to see what it looks with the Les Claypool Pups in it and see if some of the other parts need more gold, or if they look just fine looking worn with the gold pick ups. Always things to do if I decide or move to the next bass if I decide too.
Sooooooooooo, that did it for my knee sitting up in this chair for those few minutes, I am going back to watch some TV and probably sleep.
Nice dropping on and seeing all you fine filks. Los of nice new asses in the last few weeks.
Looks great @T_dub
Is that a P or J neck on it?
I’m not usually one for relics but that’s a nice looking bass. Excellent snag!
I do like the white pickup covers on red basses. Are they Dimarzios? Looks like it.
Defiantly a P, like an old school P. Not quite a baseball bat, but its wide. 1.75"
Yeah, I keep saying the same thing, but they did a nice relic on this model. It does not look like somebody just went to town on it with a hammer, chisel, drill and bunch. It is not over done at all, it is pretty calm for a relic, possibly the reason I like it.
but I keep thinking what the inspiration for this bass was? can’t find much info on it (have not looked that much, surgery keeping me away from the computer more then I would like).
Was is somebody famous? you would think they would put their name on it.
Was is a studio bass that everybody loved to play when in the studio, or was it just an idea in the head of the person that then decided to do a clean version and call it a Ventera?
They are, they are not. But they are. But they are, But they are not.
They are Smaller branded, but basically Dimarzios, so yeah, for the most part they are.
But I have now had my first and probably last experience with the dreaded FENDER truss road that you need to take the pick guard or loosen the neck to get to the truss rod.
What a buzz kill.
Because I can only put about 15 min into it a day (cuz of my knee surgery), I still don’t have it set up or with new strings. AND I suspect that I will need either a new nut or this one will need to be shimmed. I will try that one first, but gonna order a nut just in case.
They just… need to stop doing this.
I had a 1959 Jeep, where you turned the key, pulled the choke, and then pressed the button to engage the starter.
It was fine for 1959.
It’s not 1959 anymore Fender.
So… pics will come sometime over the weekend when I’ve got some better light. This deserves good photographs.
Here’s the story. Since getting my Ibanez SR375E, I’ve been pretty content on basses. I still look at OfferUp and Reverb and the like to see what’s out there, and because I like looking at basses, but I had no intention of getting another one. Like I said, pretty content.
Ah, the best laid plans or something. Yesterday, on OfferUp, I saw the most beautiful Carvin I think I’ve ever seen. Today, my GF (who is also my CFO) and I were out to brunch, enjoying some mimosas and bloody Marys and the like (we’re on vacation this week). I mentioned to her that if we had had a free $X.XX (the cost of the bass on OfferUp), I’d buy this bass right now, and I showed her the picture. She’s not one to “ooh and aah” over basses, but she oohed. And aahed. And then she said, “I mean, you know that our daughter and I have been looking for a playmate for Zelda…”
(Zelda is our now 9-month-old puppy. My GF and my daughter want to get her a playmate, but with a puppy and 3 parrots, I’ve been shutting the idea down.)
I quipped back, “Shit. If I could get that bass, she could have a playmate.”
So! We made the 45 minute drive to the bass and bought it. It was more beautiful in person, it was in pristine, BRAND NEW condition, and the more I looked at it, the more I recognized that it wasn’t one of the LB20/LB70/B4/Icon Carvins that I was used to seeing. I started digging into it and discovered it’s an X44 Xcellerator, technically a Kiesel but sold with the Carvin name on it.
!!!
They’re already looking at kittens and puppies.
Pictures please @JustTim
Soon, soon. I promise. But this one deserves better than my standard “pay no attention to the unfinished drywall behind the bass” pictures.

Look forward to seeing it on Sunday arvo at the B2B hang Tim @JustTim
Cheers Brian
drool Drool, where are the pictures?
I know, I am not to talk, it took me like 8 days to get. mine up, but I get get out of jail free cards cuz of my knee surgery.
How’s the leg doing? Holding up?
@JustTim as someone who has a rescue dog and fosters rescue dogs. I’d politely ask you to consider a rescue rather than buying a puppy from a breeder.
By taking a dog from the pound, you’re giving it a second chance and hopefully improving its life.
That’s right, @Barney . . .
And if @JustTim wants a particular breed, he can go to a good “Rescue Group” for that breed and get exactly the sex, age, size, etc. he is looking for. Can even dial it in for any existing pets already at home.
An older dog will help stabilize a frisky young puppy, too!
Cheers
Joe
My last few dogs have come from pounds, and I swear they remember and are grateful. They are the best dogs.
