How does Fender Japan’s overall quality stack up against other Japanese manufacturers like FGN, or even MIM Fenders?
I understand this Hama Okamoto Signature P is made of basswood while MIM Ps are alder.
Just trying to triangulate which direction is a wiser choice. Of course, with an MIM P I’d have to get a Jazz neck whereas the Okamoto model has one already.
I think I paid $250 for my Fender Mexican Jazz Bass neck for the Moolah Bass, which I didn’t think was too bad. It was definitely the most expensive piece.
@Barney could you please point me to that link you posted for the fancy wood grain pick guards? I don’t remember if it was in Bass porn or upgrades, or show us your basses or where i saw it, or if it was even you who posted it haha… but i’d like to check em out some more.
25 degrees in the shade. The new Roland cube is perfect for sitting on the back deck, playing a jam track thru the IPod and jamming. Happy days Bass buzzers.
Very curious to see the tax, title and license quote on the Okamoto P. If the shipping cost is in the same ballpark it was in the FGN Mighty Power quote they sent me, it will be about half the cost of the bass.
Finally decided to pull the trigger on a Lakland Skyline 44-64 GZ. It was a Sweetwater demo model so that justifies the price, right?
This thing sounds beautiful, looks beautiful, feels beautiful. And the color is 105% up my alley. Only downside is that it weighs about 12 pounds but beauty is pain sometimes eh?
