Ah, that explains it, I’m not a Maiden fan. Awesome looking bass, though.

EDIT

It’s made of leaves? Huh.

Thank you. As Wombat said, this is a Steve Harris signature Fender P bass. The striping is maroon, blue and maroon being Steve’s favorite soccer team’s colors (coincidentally that’s their logo on the bass as well).

I am an SH fanboy, ao now I have the complete set: bass (with signature pups), strings and SH1 sansamp stompbox.

I’m really, really digging on the blue and maroon striping. It looks really good on that white/cream body.

I figured that was a soccer logo on it; I zoomed in on it and read the “West Ham United” text.

New Bass Day! Huge thanks to @howard for pointing me in the right direction. I’m glad I mentioned my interest in this bass in a couple other threads. Packed very well and lightning fast shipping from Osaka, Japan.

Action is a little high out of the box but it’s a monster of a bass. Time to revisit some lessons and most likely will take it in for a setup on Monday.

Damn, now that’s a Jazz bass I can get behind. I am sure you will be very happy with it.

I agree completely.
I actually bought my Ray4 off the wall at a GC, and was so happy with it that I went back about a month later and got the Olive green Ray4HH.

I love my Ray4. After all the basses I have had, including a Ray34 and EBNM Stingray SLO special, my Ray 4 is still my go-to that I love completely.

Unfortunately, my Ray4HH experience was not the same.

I wanted to love it, and I not only loved the Olive green color, I also loved playing on the bright maple fretboard, but I just could not connect with the 2pick ups.

It may be because the pick ups are the one weak spot on the Ray4, but it’s an easy fix with a replacement pick up for $50 and up to make it sound great

I never liked ANY OF the pick up selections Available on the Ray4HH except the lady one which is the single bridge pick up soloed, which is basically the Ray4 , so why bother with the ray4HH

Now, it could change dramatically with better pick ups, and maybe even more with upgraded pre amp.

But to me it makes little sense to spend the money to upgrade a Ray4HH with $350 or more in electronics, because you end up in the price range of the Ray34HH, which probably sounds fine

I will admit I have not played with a ray34HH, or an EBNM Stingray 4HH before, so this is pure speculation, but I suspect there is something to it

Therefore the only real reason to upgrade a Ray4HH IMO I’d if you prefer the Jazz style neck that comes on it as opposed to the fatter Stingray neck that comes on the Ray34 or EBNM Stingray.

I did prefer the Ray4 Jazz type neck at first, and still do, as it is my go to, but as I got more experienced, I learned to appreciate the fatter and wider necks like on a Stingray or P bass.

I no longer look for small necks exclusively, but prefer to be open to the overall experience when looking at basses now.

But I know some people prefer jazz like necks, and for that matter it would make sense to upgrade a Ray4HH instead of just buying a Ray34HH

The great thing about Ray4’s in the standard single pick up model is that upgrading a pick up can be inexpensive, and is really simple to do with just a screwdriver and soldering iron.
Nd it is a fantastic bass as well

Wow. That’s a standard H in there? It wasn’t put in aftermarket?

I’ve never seen that before.

Believe that is a Fender Japan offering only

Thanks all. It is indeed a Japan exclusive. It’s Kenji Hino’s Signature Jino Bass.

The H pickup is standard and it’s got a pull out switch that will isolate to just to the H pickup. The neck is a 1975 U Shape so it’s a bit different from the other Jazz I have. I’m digging it so far. More specs here: Jino Jazz Bass® | Electric Basses

I’ll have to see about recording a sample from it to share.
