That looks fantastic, hope you like it.

I am quite envious @Shibata

@Shibata I looked at those hard. Real hard.

If they offered a fretted 4-string version, I would be severely tempted, just because I dig its design, workmanship and accessibility. Lust knows no need.

He does a headless version that is fretted. It is available in 4 string. I am thinking about doing one myself.

I saw that one. But the body style of your bass is what draws me to it.

This one can be made in a 4 string. I only have one fretted 4 string at the moment, so of coarse I need another. This is probably what I will do. 4-5 month build time, but you can design exactly what you want.

Yep! But then again so would the volume knob on the bass

Whoa, you got it! Congrats!

I really love the color and am digging the design more and more. Cool unique bass.

Yes  Thanks! I couldn’t get this bass out of head since I first saw it. I finally gave in after not much of a fight. So I now own the Whaliest Whale bass on BassBuzz. LOL
And you get full credit for its name…Moby  Now I just need to find a sticker of the whale in your Bass Porn post to put on the case and all will be perfect!

Hahaha perfect name!

I prefer nontraditional instruments and this one is just so cool and unique.

@Shibata I hear you on this, but I’m not a headless fan. Also, I prefer the straight angle design of the bottom horn on your fretless over the treatment on the headless.

Food for thought. And future inquiry.

Oh man! That’s a gorgeous fingerboard.

Yes, it’s exactly the purpose of the volume knob indeed :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Also with a very simple internal electronic circuit, it’s possible to lower the output level of a bass. Or even replace the volume pot by a push-pull or push-push pot, and have a “restrained” level as well as a “full power” level modes. Would not be bad and still very simple to do.

I mean, at some point, that’s a bit of a “duh”, isn’t it? If the bass is too loud, turn it down?

I’m not saying the bass is wrong or that it has a problem. I’m just surprised at the great difference between it and any other bass I’ve played through my amp. I’ve got the pups as low as they can go, I’m running at half gain, I’ve got volumes turned down, and still if I hit an open E with anything more than a normal level of force my amp complains. And if the pups aren’t lowered? Oof.

I get that I have to make adjustments from bass to bass, but this is a… vast difference. I’m not worried about it or anything, though. I love the build, feel, and playability of the bass. My SDs should be here Tuesday, and I’ll give those a shot and we’ll see what happens from there.

I think you need to buy a bigger amp to cope with the hotter pickups.

That’s the sensible option.

See? This is why I come to the BassBuzz forums. Solid, logical, sensible solutions to bass-related problems.

Of course, a new amp is the answer. I don’t know why I didn’t think about that.

I’m still playing on my crappy Ibanez GSR200 which doesn’t deserve a photo in this thread

It was my first and only bass so far, the one I bought just to see if I would enjoy playing. 10 months later I am starting to hear GAS guy whispering in my ear :eyes:

Based on the size of the box under my Christmas tree, I have a feeling my wife did me proud and I’ll have something worthy of posting in a couple days
