Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

They sure are

Ah…It looked redder than rosewood in the picture.
Real nice collection!

Not taken any pictures of my new addition which will also be an ongoing project too but here’s a pic from the ad .

She’s a made in Japan Rick copy.
Although I couldn’t justify ( or afford) a genuine one this will certainly do.
P.S thank goodness for pay in 4 and Christmas

Beautiful workmanship and materials. Congrats.

Question: What genres do you play?

Thanks! I am all over the place on genres. Back when I was younger it was prog rock mostly.
However I studied jazz in college. Since starting to play again, most of my playing time has been spent with a metronome doing scales and arpeggios to get my fingers working again (I stopped playing almost 30 years ago) . I am at the point where the hands are working again and I am starting to relearn some songs I used to play back in the day. I am currently working on Red Barchetta by Rush. ( I hope to have that done soon and get a video for the covers thread)
That said. I love slap, tapping and I am spending lots of time on fretless… So yeah, All over the place. LOL

Holy crap! That was an amazing deal.

I suspected that, with all your fretless basses, jazz figured in your playing.

I’m with you on the at least 30-year gap with bass playing. I’m also there with you on the scales, arpeggios and etude studies to get the technique back in shape.

I almost pulled the trigger on a fretted version of your MBass, but I had to go with a unicorn Mayones custom build. Either way, it’s all good. Have fun with your great stable.

Thanks, You as well.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Mayones. I have looked real hard at the Comodous series from them.

I already own a Mayones Jabba Mala 4 Federico Malaman Signature. The craftsmanship, fit, finish and playability of it are out of this world. It’s my go-to.

I have a Jabba Custom EP ordered and should see it in a year or so. Its body and neck will be the exact same as my Mala 4 but it will have distinctly different pups and other unique specs as well.

Sounds like my kind of Rick!

I sincerely hope it comes with that rug…

It is amazing how a purple rug can really bring out the features of a black bass and tie it all together

That’s not a rug. That’s the purple haze.

Did you have to wear oven gloves to pick it up? That’s a crazy deal.

Nice score!

Did you get discount for that body? That’s not a lot of wood there, lol. Gorgeous @Shibata

No, can you believe I actually had to pay more because of those things hanging off that look like a band saw accident
