Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

Same here! Only two things are soso: lower tunings (beyond Drop D) are not great. And going beyond the 12th/14th fret is sh#tty!
(And possibly, fretless is harder to play. But that’s hearsay for now).

Otherwise, shortscale eats longer scales for breakfast!
(Just kidding :-))

Traded a wood chipper I was scared of using for a Fender Squire Jaguar P/J bass, a 12" workingman’s combo amp, and a Joyo compressor pedal.

I had to do some cleanup work on the bass there was a little rust on the pickup covers but otherwise it’s great. They swapped out the active pot and moved the jack up front so it’s passive. They gave me the pot in case I want to swap it back but since I don’t have another passive bass I might keep it as is.

The neck is sooooo thin it’s great. It’s also the first set of flat wounds I’ve played and they feel soo cool!

Can anyone tell me what screws I can buy to swap out for the pickup covers? Some of them are rusty and if like to change them.

I got a Squier classic vibe Bass VI. A real one this time.

Does this mean we get a cover of Primary soon? Love the sparkle on those.

I’ve been wanting to do “Untitled” for a while.

A lot of good options on Seventeen Seconds and Faith. Play for Today has an awesome bassline. And of course, A Forest is the true classic.

I almost waited to get this Tahitian Coral, but I’m not good at waiting and it doesn’t ship until mid November.

But, I’m happy with the sparkles.

Found this used a decent distance from home. Was a good deal but I was trying to tell myself not to drive to get it. Showed the listing to my wife and she reminded me she had a good friend in the area and the rest is history.

Nice.!! It’s best to keep it away from @Whying_Dutchman but I think you are pretty safe, he likes the Avocado burst. :joy:

 I’m not sure he’s safe. He’s still jonesing pretty hard over my Triad.

Is it chambered or solid body?

:person_shrugging:

It’s got the same body as that Mercalli and it’s really light. I think it’s just a bit over 7 lbs.

I wish my triad was that color tbh. I thought it was my Ultracure bass VI at first glance.

Hahaha! Not since I’ve seen @Wombat-metal 's Offbeat

I was pretty astounded how much I like the sound of your Triad, as it is a Jazz bass. It’s the first one where I like the sound … a lot!
For me, the Triad would be no good match, as it’s no short scale. I could buy it even in Germany now, looked at the Thomann page many times … but it makes no sense for me!

@Al1885 - that’s a very nice bass. But it’s not semi hollow. That’s what drew me first to the Reverend Dub King. The Avocado burst came second

The Dub King will be available soon at Thomann, and my girlfriend saw me drooling more over that bass than over her (her words … but she had a smile on her face, when she said that ^^), so she suggested to buy it for me. She knows that I will never buy another bass again, so that was her way of making me happy.
But I’m to proud to accept expensive gifts, so I’ll stick to modding Harley Bentons. That was a difficult decision though.
Principle is more important than guilty pleasures, I guess…

I really don’t get the Avocado burst thing… while I love a lot of 80s music, I have bad memories of avocado bathrooms :joy:

I feel you! Didn’t care for Avocado burst before too until I saw that bass. Also I did not know what burst was, until a few months ago.

But I dreamed of that f#cking bass, and since then it has a special place in my heart. I really don’t know why, but it mesmerized me and I can’t let go.

But I won’t buy it!

(Also, cause I’d rather mod my Harley Benton even more and post about it, as that thread is so popular    )

I’d say it’s a jazz style bass more than it’s a jazz. It’s got the 3 humbucking blade pickups on it, so you’re not going to really be getting that vintage jazz tone from the triad.

I think that’s the secret of it’s absolutely wonderful tone. It does NOT sound like a jazz bass!?

Well I took half a day this weekend and went up to Portland and spent a couple hours playing every Fender bass guitar they had in the store (they had nearly every model, Player ii, Player Plus, Performer, Professional ii, AVRI ii in both Jazz and Precision, even a Mustang and a Jag). Ended up coming home with this beauty. Couldn’t resist $200 off and a free Hercules wall hanger.
