Lol, actually saved one of those because I was tripping out on it so hard.
Yeah! I know what you mean! I will NEVER play my bass again without putting baby powder on it. Just for the visual effect ![]()
This is actually pretty cool. And it has some advantages: if the audience is not being nice, the bass player can use the elastic bands like a slingshot to shoot some peas at them! ![]()
Why the powder? Was that just Sapko being Sapko? Or is there a reason for it?
I once played with a bass ukulele at GC which has rubber (I believe) strings that are kind of sticky in a way. Iād guess the powder helps with that. Purely a guess though.
The silicone strings are sticky coating your fingers and string make them smooth and more responsive to play. I want to do that a few times on a gig with my UBassās and even regular basses but it would be too suggestive and cliche, especially we rub our nose from time to time and a white powder stain on the nose is not a good look, ![]()
I suggest you always go on stage with a dab of talcum powder under each nostril.
But why do we call it āSex, DRUGS and Rockān Rollā then? ![]()
Sex and drugs are directly responsible for Rockān Roll.
Just pictured that in my head. ![]()
Any one of those things always leads to the other two. No exception ![]()
White powder and 70s Black Sabbath⦠seems about right ![]()
Iāve jammed on quite a few gigs where the guest artist is so in the zone, heās drooling while playing. Dunno if they are substance related, ![]()
Probably the drummer and the bassist are the only ones who are sober, for the sake of rhythm ![]()
Dunno if they are substance related,
The drug zone is much different and may sometimes show truth or open the door of perception, however it abruptly closes and was not opened wide.
Sex and drugs are directly responsible for Rockān Roll.
The term āRock and Rollā literally came from a euphemism for sex!
Probably the drummer and the bassist are the only ones who are sober, for the sake of rhythm
Well, I donāt know about the drummer, but hereās a handy guide
āRock and Rollā
Rock āin and rolling was a 17th century term used on ships to describe sea conditions.
And there are other times throughout recent history youāll find it.
Then thereās the story of the radio dj in the states who supposedly coined the phrase in the 50ās.
Sure (thanks Grok) but thereās a direct line between ārock and rollā the musical genre and this specific meaning.
i donāt use grok but will try it soon.
I sail and live around 1/2 mile, under 2k from the ocean, its something you hear over the years.
Part of my dream is to be sitting calm in the doldrums hammering out Rush songs to the open ocean.
i donāt use grok but will try it soon.
Sorry. My mistake.
I asked Grok =
Grok says -
I sometimes use Grok or Chatgpt and ask it how to adjust the settings
