I wanted to try before buying, but couldnāt find them around here. So I just read reviews and watched videos, and decided to order mine from Thomann. It didnāt disappoint. It has a great sound, and I think it is mostly because of the pickups, and in part because of the semi hollow body, but Iāve read that the larger (proper) semi-hollow basses have an ever better tone.
It is a little smaller, though. The body is smaller than my Squierās. The body is also a lot shorter, especially if we donāt take the horns into account.
Hereās a picture from another angle. (The black finish is so shiny, so there is a lot of reflections on it)
It is a serious possibility, and well documented in this forum. I āthinkā these 2 basses will be enough for a long time. Long is open to interpretation, I know. And I would like to have a headless bass one day, but Iām not in a hurry.
It is! I thought maybe it wouldnāt be as comfortable as the Squier (which allows for a more comfortable rest for the plucking hand), but it is so light. Easy to play standing up too.
Interesting how much difference the colors make! Shiny black makes it cool and modern. My heart melted when I saw the Black Red for the first time when you @TheMaartian posted a picture. It is so beautiful and awesome.
I could use another bass like a drowning man needs a tall glass of water.
Honestly, the color of a Longhorn would never be a consideration to me. Itās the feel and the tone that are the only factors important to me. The one I owned was the Copperburst. I didnāt like its looks, but how it played blew all of that away.
Again, big congratulations to you. I believe youāll have tons of fun with yours.
