It’s a beauty! Congrats, and welcome!
That’s a beauty. Congratulations!
My only bass. Been with me for 42 years. After sitting in the basement for twenty years it needed to be set up. I like low action so that is where it is now. I started leveling/crowning my guitars recently and watching luthiers on youtube is how I got into doing my own setups.
I will play nicely with others since I was just banned on TB. This forum seems more to my liking anyway as I am self taught and always considered myself an average player even though a few local bands always wanted me to sub for them. Stage fright was a major reason I didn’t go all out and in the recording studio I had to keep it dark to really relax and enjoy the experience. In all the time I played this there is no worming or buckle rash. Proud to say none of my instruments suffer in that way.
I am waiting for my Sure Grip original knobs at the moment. The originals were tossed in favor of the chrome knobs which always reminded me of tele style and springsteen so they were tossed.
I haven’t played it in a few months. My 2 p basses were packed up in my gig bag and it was just sitting there. I’ve thought about trading it a couple of times as im GASing over a reverend dub king. I picked it up and and have been playing it for the last couple of days. All I can say is, this thing is built like a freaking tank compared to the Fenders. I’m not saying the fenders are poorly built, but the G&L is just on a different scale. And its a tribute, I really need to get my hands on a US model before the prices get out of control.
I’m headed over to reverb to look at Wunkays.
Hello all here, I’m back with a new bass :þ, I started out with an 20+ years old used bass and it was awesome cos I did not know what I was doing, but after playing a bit I went in the music store and tested some basses, really liked the feel of a jazz bass, so I set a target that when I finished B2B, I would get this really nice Fender standard bass in metallic blue I had played at the store.
But even though I’m not finished, I saw the store had a sale going and I decided to go check it out, sadly they did not have that blue bass I wanted on sale, but they had this Player 2 bass that was more than 200$ off, and yes it was off cos its got a sparkle disco look to it
but it played so nice, even felt better than the standard I had my eyes on, so I just went for it, grabbed my “spending money envelope” and bought it, and darn do I love it, plays so much nicer than the old bass, narrower neck, but most importantly much better shaped neck, feels like I can now play 2x as long without getting burn
I know its nothing shiny and fancy, but I’m really happy, and think this will be my lifelong bass (for now :þ), at least my spending envelope is almost empty and I’m disabled so it grows really slow ![]()
P.s. and yes I have these lovely 70’s curtains
they are great
Very nice one !
Congrats on the new bass!
You sound like me. I always tell myself I am going to do X and Y before I can buy Z. Then Z goes on sale and it foils my plans and me being the kind of person that has no discipline for such things…
lol so true… we are such simple creatures. no suprize how successful those who manipulate us are.. Bernaise is the guy who changed the world the most in last century, even hitler and FDR did not change the world as much ![]()
well ok maby this topic is not for this forum, but good stuff to know

I haven’t seen it yet on Fullertons or Tributes. Maybe after tax season
@K_Miller very nice, and you got those nice wood grains showing through instead of glitter, and those box inlays, beautiful

I like how yours has more gold showing through at the top of the pick guard. I’d be super pleased with either!
I’d say there up 15% give or take over last year from what I saw today, plus the supply is significantly down for obvious reasons.
There is a 3 bolt Leo signature ASAT about 30 minutes from me that’s being advertised for 2k. It’s been there a minute. I could probably waive some cash to see where they are. I’d say I could get a few hundred off since they wouldn’t have to pay shipping or reverb fees.
Once there was a song on this subject!
I’ve seen some 80’s stuff at what I think are high prices for their condition. I guess that the only way to know is to follow and see if they sell. G&L’s classically don’t have high resale. The last two I bought were great buys. There are still new Tribute JB-1’s for $649 on-line. New Fullerton Kiloton 5’s are new at 2k and excelent used at $1,300. Time will tell
Gorgeous! The Riot body shape is the chef’s kiss!
Beautiful! Also the grain on the neck by the 15th fret!
Wait. Does that bass have six tuning machines and only FIVE knobs?
