Yeah super curious if it’s any of the numbers I have seen and mentioned here

Still want one but I am really happy with my 550.

None on the used market here now (duh, you guys bought them all  )

But if any of you need owners manuals this guy is selling them for some reason, including the info card signed by Okano.

Interesting as the one J1 on eBay here is still up. I have all the original docs for the J2 I have.

This one has just arrived yesterday, after its long journey from Michigan → California → Saigon → Hanoi → Melbourne.

Did I need a third bass after only getting my second 2 months ago?

Probably not :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Did I need a third bass after having played for only 6 months?

Definitely not :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Did I GAS it?

Absolutely did

The fact that this Wattplower would be an unpopular choice to many made me want it even more.

Local chain; Probably either Ernst or Pay & Pack. My local Ace is pretty good, but nothing matched Hardwicks in Seattle. They got forced out of their 1920’s building ten years ago and moved to Sand Point Idaho. From cow magnets to Aladdin lamps, they had it all.

Ace is very hit and miss as they’re franchise owned for the stores. Some are reasonable and some jack their prices way up. It’s like, I’d rather not go to Home Depot or Lowe’s or Menards but if you’re going to have almost no selection and the stuff you do carry is 3-5 times the price, you’re kinda forcing my hand.

I can go to Lowes, wander six acres trying to find something, wander another three trying to find help, follow them another two because they can’t find it either, once they finally find it, you go to check out and the self ceckout malfunctions and there’s nobody to help there, ether. For a dollar more, I can go to Ace and be back in my car before I can walk to the back of Lowes. Oddly, the Ace seems to have more staff in their store too! Makes me wonder if it just keeps an entire family employed and nothing more. Either way, the time saved VS the small difference in price for name brand quality VS whatever Lowes store brand is…

EDIT: Last time I spent a half hour trying to find 14ga speaker wire in Lowes, it wound up being 300% MORE than Amazon. C’mon, I’ll wait one day to save $20!

Nope, not sure!

If it was just a dollar, that’s basically a wash, especially compared with the time it takes for all the wandering around. Luckily, I almost always know what I’m looking for and basically have the places mapped out in my head. I often feel like Ron Swanson going in there, but at least am humble enough to know and admit when I don’t.

I think it’s gotten better now that you can browse their inventory online with prices, but the one particular store near my old house that I had decided to stop going to because of the gouging I ended up working with a guy that worked there in high school and said the owners would purposely charge higher as a '“convenience charge”. I do still go to others from time to time and other mom & pop hardware stores, but where I live now I literally have a Menards, 2 Home Depots, and 2 Lowes closer than any Ace or M&P hardware stores. Menards is 1 mile straight down a 55mph highway, so it takes no time to get there at all.

Anyway, I’ll get off my soapbox now as this is getting way off topic of the thread.

Business as usual then.

My Ace is my #1 stop for fasteners, although the BIG places are here now, this area is quite a bit older, so it still has a lot of the ‘small town’ stuff.

*The Ace had all the fasteners for my Fender Bassbreaker amp refurbish, but they didn’t have black pickguard screws or black pickup screws for my SB-2 project.
*(thread conviently back on-topic)
