How they sell that thing for only $99.99 I’ll never know.
That’s why I ordered a dozen, lol.
Just got my new bass! Lakland Skyline 44-64 GZ. This thing really exceeded expectation. Nothing I have ever played has come close to how comfortable this thing is. Turns out you really do get what you pay for.
And here’s what I went through B2B with. A Sterling Sub RAY5.
That’s a gorgeous @Koldunya purple Lakland.
Hope you’ve been here long enough to get the reference @BrandonF
Dog for scale ![]()
No rug ![]()
I think a nice rug would really bring that picture to the forefront of deliciousness. Otherwise, it is just a purple Lackland with a nice dog. Rugs rule!!

Sweet looking Lakeland and doggo!
Congrats! Lakland does really good work.
While purple ain’t my thing, your bass is beautiful. Love the wood grain and translucent stain finish. I imagine it would look seriously good in a similar red or blue treatment (my prefs).
Purple! I live it, gorgeous bass.
Hey, my birthday is coming up! That would make a fine present I’d say.
Those Geezer purple basses are nice! How’s the weight?
@Wombat-metal Is all of that purple heart wood? How does the fret board feel now that it’s done?
Despite absolutely loving the color myself, I agree that a more standard color option would likely look great and sell really well.
I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty heavy. I believe the sweetwater listing had my particular bass at 10.11 lbs. I haven’t spent much time playing in a standing position with it yet, but I’m looking for a new strap just the same.
That’s a great looking bass. Someone else on the forum bought one a while back in (I think) the same colour.
Just looked on Sweetwater and 10.7lbs ![]()
Come on, you do know that purple is your two favorites, red and blue mixed together, right? ![]()
I agree about the wood grain and translucent stain.
All of that is from one piece of purple heart wood. The top looks like two joined pieces of purple heart.
The body is a single piece, fully chambered, hand carved mahogany.
The neck is mahogany as well with a purple heart fretboard. Inlays and side dots are turquoise, because his wife is new agey and believes turquoise brings positive energy.
Chris the Luthier still has it, though he claims purple heart makes the best fingerboards. I will probably have it in a week and will let you know what I think.
Volume is normal volume, tone is a push pull, down is a .047 cap, up is a .022 cap. The whole bass weighs 6.5 pounds/2.9 kilos
Chris is a store manager of a retail store by day, in off hours he hand crafts these little beauties. This bass costs like a high end Squier
