Found baby Groot! It’s like a Where’s Wally picture

Yeah, that was originally our dining room. Sara and I spend most of our time in the family room, so we moved the table and chairs there. Now this room is the music/photography/video studio.

Hey @PamPurrs just noticed your K&M stool. I just nabbed one of them as my desk chair (and being in it day and night) was giving me issues. I got the round seat though. How do you like yours? Love mine so far.

I’ve had mine for about a year and love it. I especially love the shape, as it’s easy to get on and off of it, and it’s quite comfortable.
I mainly use it as my editing chair, but it goes into the studio when I’m practicing on the upright.

I thought about the shaped seat but wanted something for drum pad and pedals too and thought round seems better.

I find I’m a bit low in my chair for that and keyboard and even bari sax.

I’m impressed how honkin sturdy the thing is built. Doesn’t look as tank-ish in the pics. It’s a monster.

For the price, it’d better be lol

If the only place you intend to play is your home studio

…to fill it up with more gear

I’ve given up on the idea of ever playing with others, thus, I sold the amp head and cab.

I understand, Pam, and I certainly didn’t mean to question your decision. I think it makes a lot of sense, it’s reasonable if bittersweet. I just wanted to point out what the limitation was (maybe obvious to everyone!?!).

You have a great practice (and production) environment

In the spare bedroom, which used to be the kitchen(hence the old wall cupboards are on the floor for storage) and is tiny (that’s why it USED to be the kitchen). Lead guitar is one my youngest just gave me. I’ve set it up right and now it plays very well. I’ll hang it on the wall tomorrow. Cheapy p-bass will be replaced with a decent one in September and then it’s getting modded!

EDIT: I’ve just noticed that there’s five computers in that shot and that’s two short of all the ones just in that one room! I’m not even a computer guy!

Eh. If I ever need to play anywhere else that didn’t have their own PA, I’ll just buy PAs and run sound for the whole band. Already have the mixer so if I needed anything it would simply be an amp sim.

Practice/jam studios around here all have their own amps (and often drum sets!) so no big deal there either.

It’s a long room so it was impossible to get the bass guitars in the shot but they’re hanging on the wall behind where I took the picture from.

I am very jealous of your desk. I would love a real studio desk.

Thanks!

It was this one from Amazon. Surprisingly affordable compared to some of the desks I looked at: Acme Furniture Eleazar Music Recording Studio Desk, Natural Oak https://a.co/d/eXhMFAt

A little backstory. I have been working on some of my unfinished downstairs for quite a while. The previous owner had visions of blowing out the master bedroom closet into an adjoining room, but never completed it. The space also had a lot of flooding issues, which it turns out was coming from a sewer problem, which I discovered when it backed up into the basement :face_vomiting:

Anyways, I got that taken care of ($15k :sob:), then I framed the master closet back in, framed the foundation wall of the unfinished space, did all the sheetrock work (mud, tape, sanding), PVA, texture, painted, leveled the concrete floor, installed new flooring and trim, and now I finally have a proper practice space!

Please ignore the unfinished window trim I swear I’m going to get around to it. This has been such a long process, it’s so sweet to finally have it done. What you don’t see behind you is the mini fridge full of Modelo especial, and I have a proper stool arriving on Friday which will be great so I can get off this rock hard office chair.

Nice work @Ant

And it goes without saying…. That rug really . . .

Hahah thanks John! You don’t….like the rug? Tbh I don’t really like it either but it belonged to my late mother in law so it has some sentimental value to my wife & she wouldn’t let me get a new one

It was a reference to “The Big Lebowski”. There was a running gag line about “The rug really ties the room together”
