I’m tired of stepping on cords. It makes my feet hurt and it’s only a matter of time before I trip. I’ve already switched to wireless instrument system and in ear monitors but there are still a bunch of wires everywhere. So I’m thinking a rug will help with the cables I cant control. Will this be the solution or should I just be better about cable management? Anyone recommend a size?
Well, a rug will definitely help tie that room together. ![]()

And also help with the cable issue, sure.
Funny you should say that. This is my 1st option for a rug. The 2nd is a tanned cowhide.
We’re a two rug cover band.
One for the drummer (for the drool) and the other around the singer / keys / lead.
It does actually make things easier. Tucking cables under the rug vs taping them down. It’s probably 8’ x 5’. We got it from a thrift store. So maybe 10$?
Isn’t that pretty much determined by how much floor space you want to cover?
Yeah, probably. I’m still figuring things out though. A rug is extra, I don’t want to be too extra. I don’t want the drool puddle from the drummer to cross-contaminate to my rug either.
Valid concern.
I have two 10x12 rugs with MOST of the cables ran underneath and then taped together and taped on the border. It works well. Hardwood floor underneath.
It really ties the new set together.
Rug matched to platform size, or platform built to match rug size?
hahhahha i Love this, thread of the year
I have been fighting the temptation to abuse the pun potential here for a long time. I am glad someone finally did.
Me too!
Everytime I see the title of this thread.

Yeah, that’s how my childish brain works as well.
Rug matched to platform size, or platform built to match rug size?
It was supposed to be simple. I ordered the rug to match the board sizes, but the rug was a little smaller than advertised so I had to cut all boards down a couple inches. It turned out to be a much longer project than I wanted it to be. But I am happy with it now that it’s done.
It really ties the new set together.
I agree
