I am on the cusp of retirement (I can see the light!), and started B2B course back in August (On the “Steady Eddie” Plan). Josh’s bass setup video got me started down the rabbit hole of bass guitar mods.
So far, I bought myself a new Bronco Bass and have added a thumb rest, a Seymour Duncan SCPB-3 Quarter Pound Neck Precision Bass Single Coil Pickup, and Ernie Ball Super Slinky roundwounds to the little jewel. It sounds amazing. Close to what my Lakland 44-64 Custom PJ sounds like on P pickup.
I know there is no recompense in this for me (why do most people almost immediately say, “You’ll never get your money back out of that thing.”) I don’t care. ![]()
It’s a ton of fun to pull out a guitar with the “Squire” logo top and center on the headstock and hear it pound out serious P-bass sounds.
Next mod: custom pickguard!
I had no idea how much fun the bass guitar was going to be! ![]()
I’d love to sync up w/ others who have done the Bronco thing and trade notes.
