Software that slows down tabs

I am looking for a software product that slows down music along with the bass tabs similarly to what our lessons did in the B2B course. I have been playing along with a lot of You Tube videos that have a bass cover with tabs, but some go faster than I can keep up with. I’d love to be able to slow them down so I can learn the more complicated shapes and master them before getting up to tempo. I see that Songsterr has the capability of slowing down their tabs if you subscribe to their software, but I’m not sure I want a monthly subscription. A one-and-done would be better, if such a thing exists and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Thanks for any advice you might have.

You can slow down YT video’s - just click the gear icon to set the playback speed.

Songsterr is probably the cheapest option (IIRC $5/mo). I can slow down the playback speed of tabs in Guitar Pro, but only the ones I have written. You can pay for something called My Songbook in Guitar Pro which gives you access to thousands of full scores but that’ll run you $70 for the software and $60/yr for access. Slowing down the playback speed of YT videos with tabs is the only free option I know of.

Should point out too that looper.tube is pretty cool in that you can feed it a YT video link, and have the ability to loop over sections you are practicing. You can also use the slider to adjust the speed from 0.25x to 2x, in increments of 0.05.

Saved! How cool is that!

Noteflight’s free account lets you adjust speed and I just like the look of it better. What I have been doing when there is a song I want to learn is manually copying the tabs into noteflight. It’s a bit time consuming, but that process actually helps with the learning as well.

Here is an example for Nutshell by Alice in Chains.

Note that you can speed up or slow down any youtube video, 0.25-2x.

True story, I forgot they had a slider in their interface and thought only the predefined increments were available.

Guitar pro 8 (or whatever current version). they are one time buy like $70, pretty standard when it comes to notation and tabs and the creation of them.

Soundslice free account can do that, it also has a speed training mode so it loop the tab or section and will increase the speed progressively.

Cool! I didn’t know that - perfect solution. Thank you!

I’ve really been enjoying the Songster app. It’s $9.99/mo for the full version that allows you to adjust playback speeds.

It also allows you to swap between the actual song or a synth version in the fly. I’ve found that really helps to understand what’s going on sometimes when it’s hard to differentiate over the full band

My buddy got a video foot controller for when he’s practicing with YouTube videos.

He says it’s a game changer but I’ve never tried one.

That sounds crazy useful

I asked my buddy about it and he said he still loves it and sent me this link.

I’m not affiliated in any way but I’m thinking of getting one myself.

Wait. I looked it up. Really expensive!

The M-VAVE Chocolate Plus costs about 30€ and can do all that. It’s not only MIDI, but you can assign key codes too, so it will act as a keyboard.

That’s awesome! Way more in my budget!

That color reminds me of the Tom Waits’ intro to “On A Foggy Night” on “Nighthawks at the Diner”.

This is a…kind of about 2:30 in the morning, you’ve been standing on the corner of Fifth and Vermouth and you climb into the helm of a 1958 monkey shit brown Buick Super and you’re on your way home. A luxury automobile, bought at Dollar Bill’s Easy Autos for next to nothing.
