I like RØDE a lot, but it’s more expensive than the AMS-22.
Group pressure forces me to get the AMS-22, IF I get a cheap/small/good/latency-free Boombox like speaker too.
Gonna sell my Spark GO and Spark MINI and replace that with a Boombox + mobile DAI (& Boss Katana GO) for travel & park.
Unfortunately my JBL Charge 2+ turns out to be s#cky s#cky too, both in terms of bass and (worse) latency!
Both Sparks have severe latency issues. I understand that for bluetooth … but it’s also an issue with USB and line-in.
So it cannot be used for live recording or playing (if I want to listen and/or record both bass and background track).
Size- & weight-wise, my new solution should not exceed the Spark Mini (ca 1.5kg).
I’d rather go for less than 1kg and a smaller size (like my JBL Charge 2+).
So that rules out a 5" speaker, I guess.
Again, mobility is key (think: luggage restriction & planes). And it does not need to be loud. Just for me and my girlfriend listening to it in the park or a sunny terrace in the south of France…
No … that’s why I want to get rid of it. It was very good for what it was.
But it’s beem replaced by the much better Boss Katana Go. Now I just need a small mobile speaker that allows me to play without head phones … quality-wise it should be as good or better than the Spark Mini.
As much as I loved the Spark GO … the bass was veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy thin…
PS I just experimented with the Boss Katana GO as an audio interface. Don’t know why, but sometimes it works exactly like I want (so I don’t need an audio interface like the AMS-22), and sometimes it does not work properly. As an audio interface it’s not perfect (48KHz and the need for using the tuning trick for a dry recording). But it’s good enough for a cover…
You are talking about a very advanced topic that you do not need to worry about at all when recording bass.
Sampling theory dictates the maximum possible audio frequency to accurately record for any given sampling frequency. For 48kHz sampling rate, this is a 24kHz signal. The maximum frequency the average human can discern is 20kHz. You are fine recording at 48. 96 would be 2x oversampled, which is useful for some things but not recording dry bass.
Yeah, that was before climate change!
I’m planning to get a diesel car and a fire place to produce as much CO2 as possible, thus extending the time I can spend in the park substantially.
And if the ocean rises a little more, I might have a beach in walking distance soon!
Hahaha! Hamburg totally s#cks!!!
Don’t like cities at all, but I am here for my girlfriend (and cause my profession cannot be done in the bush).
But the park is great. It is a melting pot of different cultures, people of all ages and I have seen at least seven different sexes and even more humanoid species…
If you live in the city - take advantage of everything it can give you!
But I would also rather live next to a small village in the south of France … God’s own country!
