In general, I have no opinions at all on random bargain basement gear. It comes and goes so fast that I don’t generally waste my time getting to know any of it. The notable exception there is Behringer, damn you Uli.
This is from the first review on the website:
"It is made of poor plastic and the buttons fall off very easily , but you can glue the back on, but be careful aboud amount of glue you put…very easy to put to much glue…if the glue bleeds in the button “cavity” then you are in big trouble "
Buy once, cry once.
This is why I don’t waste my time.
yeah if you have to re-build your gear yourself, there is an obvious problem.
at a different level that’s why I tend to stick with brands I know, and I know what I can expect. Fender, Ampeg, Marshall, (… Gibson), Ovation, Yamaha, Vox, Bad Cat … even Line6. Those things just work (not always true with Gibson tho
)
Well yeah you can have a very good P for cheaper than a MIA Fender, that’s for certain. But Fender (in this example) is some kind of a secure buy for me. It’s not cheap but it’s a serious and well-known brand and I know what I can expect.
but it’s just me.
I’m just looking for a reasonably cheap travel DAI…
then Behringer maybe ![]()
The Zoom is reasonably priced.
yeah Zoom is a good brand for reasonably-priced stuff
The Zoom U-24 or the Behringer Uphoria imo, Zoom would be first.
I do wish Uli’s products weren’t so damn good for the money. His synth division is knocking it out of the park; I have owned two and they were not only fantastic synthesizers but were better made than the Korgs I was looking at.
I really hate to support his business model, or him, but damn.
can’t disagree …
The Zoom is like $15 more than the ‘plastic knobs fall off thing’
I owned that particular Zoom and loved it. The preamps have some noise but for bass it doesn’t matter at all and its I/O layout is perfect (i.e. mixer-style). Highly recommended.
not a big fan of the layout, but yeah. decent, and good for the price.
I had a look at the Zoom. It’s not bad, but much too large.
It’s really important that the device is small, sounds good … and is not expensive.
I really need to control my current spending, also cause I need to find a very and light small mobile speaker with no latency to practice outside…
All those little costs add up ![]()

Yep ![]()
I’m using this one as my dai, nothing fancy but compact
